Tips For Rotating Your Closet

Twice a year, I like to rotate my closet for the seasons spring/summer and fall/winter.  Instead of doing it four times a year, I choose to do it twice due to wearing the same clothing for the matched seasons.

Why Would I Rotate My Closet?

Rotating your closet is a great so you can see what you have in your closet.  To check if you have outgrown or have clothing that you don’t like anymore.  It’s a great way to transition into the next season too, therefore you don’t have to keep all your clothes together.  Does sweaters in the summer and bathing suit sound right?

Here are some tips for when your organizing your closet:

When putting your clothes in bins, roll them up and then you can fit more.  But don’t make it too heavy if you have to lift the bin.  I like to use storage bins with a lid; it helps prevent mildew, bugs from entering, and more.

Put your hangers all in the same direction, then when you pull a piece off a hanger then wear it.  When you hang it up again, put it in the opposite direction, therefore at the end of the season you can see the difference in what you wear.

Reminisce on which were your favorites to wear as you put away and hang up clothing, it helps get your creative juices flowing.  Maybe you’ll find or create a new outfit you haven’t thought of before.

Store you clothes somewhere where it is out of the way and not hard to get too.  In my dorm, I used to stick it under the bed.  Now, where I commute, I stick it in my closet on some top shelves.  I keep mine in an air conditioned area.
