8 Things To Do On Halloween Besides Drinking

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ohio U chapter.

While going to a Halloween party can be fun, HallOUween can be crazy at Ohio University. The weekend can be extremely fun but with the number of guests on campus, increase police force, and drinking everywhere, you might want to play it safe and have fun elsewhere on and off-campus. Here are 8 things to do on Halloween besides drinking:

Explore a Pumpkin Patch or Apple Orchard

Nothing says fall or Halloween more than picking your own apples, drinking apple cider, or getting a pumpkin to carve later. Try checking out Libby’s Pumpkin Patch or Hidden Hills Orchard for a full day of fall fun.

Host a Game Night

Avoid a cold or rainy night out in exchange for a game night with some friends. Who doesn’t love a round or two of Cards Against Humanity?

Study for Exams

This is a lame one but a valid option because we’re still shooting for that 4.0 right?

Watch a Halloween Movie Marathon

Grab some popcorn and get that movie marathon started. Having a scary Halloween movie marathon is the perfect way to stay inside this Halloween.

People Watch on College Green and Uptown

While you might not want to drink, that doesn’t mean you can’t still go out. Get dressed up in your costume and people watch on College Green or Uptown during the big HallOUween block party.

Tell Scary Stories

Gather your friends (maybe around a campfire for added spooky touch) and tell ghost stories from your hometown, university, or personal lives.

Visit a Haunted Location

With Ohio University being such an old university, there are plenty of haunted locations around Athens to explore instead of a party for Halloween. First stop: The Ridges.

Celebrate Christmas

Let’s be real, after Halloween, it’s time to start gearing up for Christmas. When the clock strikes 12, it’s time to get the hot cocoa going and the holiday music playing.
