This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

After an entire childhood of trick-or-treating, many people have grown into adults who now choose to live a vegan lifestyle. If that’s you, then you know what it’s like to pass by the candy bowl empty-handed and skip on the dairy-filled, gelatinous Halloween treats. However, there’s no need to feel left out again this Halloween because we have compiled a list of classic, vegan-friendly Halloween candy, as well as some unconventionally found on Halloween candy alternatives and homemade recipes.

  • If you miss Reese’s peanut butter cups, try the brand UnReal. They have legendary vegan peanut butter cups, as well as many other favorites like a dairy-free equivalent of Mounds and M&Ms. As an added bonus all products are also gluten-free, fair-trade, and organic!

Or, you can even make your own version of Reese’s peanut butter cups using your preferred vegan chocolate and peanut butter following this recipe.

  • If you miss Kit Kats, try the brand Little Secrets’ crispy wafer bar, just make sure to get the dark chocolate flavor, because it’s the only one that is vegan.

However, if this product is unavailable to you, you can try a homemade version that is easy to make by getting some Keebler Sugar Wafers (vegan-friendly!) and coat them in a layer of the chocolate of your choice. Just melt the chocolate in the microwave and dip the wafers in the melted chocolate. Easy!

  • If you miss candy corn, unfortunately, there are no completely vegan store-bought alternatives, but you can make them yourself with this recipe from Spoon University!
