5 Things To Do On Campus That Don’t Involve Studying

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Alberta chapter.
Check out one of the many museums on campus.

The U of A has museums in almost every building. Some of them include the E.H. Strickland Entomological Museum (located on the second floor of EAS), the WG Hardy Classics Museum (located on the second floor of Tory), Minerology and Petrology Museum (located on the main floor of EAS) and lastly, the Paleontology Museum (located in the basement of Earth Sciences.)

Check out some of the restaurants on campus.

Dewey’s is a cute little restaurant/bar located in the old power plant building which gives it an industrial vibe. You can also check out RATT located in SUB for wing Wednesday’s or Karaoke Nights!

Take in a free exhibit at the Fine Arts gallery.

Go see what all the arts students are up to and support the work that they put so much time and effort into!

Golden Bears and Pandas Sporting events!

My personal favourite is the Golden Bears Hockey. Its fast paced, fun to watch and the atmosphere is great. And the best thing is that its free for students! Go onto betheroar.ca to download your free ticket, show it at the door and you’re good to go! Grab some friends and have a good time. You can always check the Golden Bears and Pandas page on ualberta.ca to find out when their next home game is!

Catching up with friends!!

This one, I believe, is the most obvious. Your friends are all over campus especially if you are all in different faculties. Take the time to catch up, get coffee at one of the many Starbucks or Tim Hortons on campus, take a brain break and be in the moment. Allow yourself to be present and not worry about school for an hour. Believe me, it’s good for your mental health!
