Is It Bad To Go Out On The Weekdays?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at URI chapter.

Okay, picture this. You’re 25, have a job from 9 am until 5 pm five days a week. Are you going to be wanting to get drunk and either dance and continue to socialize with people until 1:00 in the morning, wake up the next morning and then go to work AGAIN from 9 am until 5 pm? Most people would answer NO.

You are in college, and you will never be this young again. It’s only going up from here, and it’s frightening. SO, why do people feel that deciding to go to a party or a bar on a weekday is bad?

Because when you drink, you tend to get hungover, and when you are hungover you feel HORRIBLE and you do not want to do anything. But that does not mean it should be frowned upon.

If you find yourself with an opportunity to go out, whether you drink or not, and you completed your school work and you don’t have much responsibility the next day, then why not? One day you’re going to be wishing that you could just be young again. I bust my a** every day to get good grades to be successful in my academics, living in my nice beach house with the master bedroom a king-sized bed and my own bathroom with four of my best friends. Can it get any better than that? My responsibility is school, nothing else. I am not an adult completely on my own. I am allowed to be young and I am allowed to enjoy myself.

It isn’t BAD. But it completely depends on what kind of person you are, depending on whether going out satisfies something for you. It is so much fun to do your hair, makeup, dress in a cute outfit, pregame with your friends and meet so many new people. When are you EVER going to be able to go to a house party like this again? Bars and clubs, for the rest of your life. But somebody’s house, no shot. You will not see me at 25 years old attending a rager in a house. I am sorry to say it, but we are getting older and older every day so just do it.

Society has put this image around colleges and universities that say all you do in college is party. We have social media accounts like Barstool and Fifth Year that advertise stupid, drunk behavior. People love to talk about moments and memories related to partying. Why? I have no idea, that is just how it is. My message is not to not care about school or your grades, it is to not be so worried when you find yourself with an opportunity to leave the house and do something fun.

We are living on our own for a reason, so let loose and have a little fun, but don’t be stupid.
