When you’re in school, it can be really hard to find time to do the things that you really want to do. One of those things for me is TV- I know that I have more important things to do but I still love to watch it. During reading week, I always have a little more time and you might have more time as well, so here’s my list of things that you should watch during the week!
- Atypical Season 3

This is one of my favorite shows because it shows a family who is trying really hard to navigate life but there are inevitably problems that come up and derail their lives a little bit. The main protagonist is a boy named Sam who is on the autism spectrum. In this season, he is starting university and of course, there are lots of problems that come with that (because university is always hard.) This is one of my favorite shows because its displays a family that has flaws but they still love each other and are there for one another. Also I find it pretty funny so if you’ve never watched Atypical, I definitely recommend it. Or if you’re waiting for season 3 to come out like me, then you have the opportunity to watch it during reading week!
- Queer Eye: We’re in Japan

Queer Eye is another one of my favorite shows because of its positive sentiment. The Fab Five go around with the goal of helping someone make their lives better. Most episodes can lead you to tears; some people are looking for help because they can’t do everything by themselves and when they finally get that help it’s really moving. This season, they go to Japan! I haven’t watched it yet (I’m waiting for reading week!) but I’m sure it’s going to be just as uplifting as the previous episodes.
- Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders is a new show that I’ve started to watch. It’s based just after World War I where the Peaky Blinders are a gang in England whose boss is Tommy Shelby. There are also other gangs that they interact with which makes the stakes that much higher. There is violence, intrigue, but also interesting family relationships that are shown. Also since it’s set right after World War I, it makes the whole series a little more interesting. This is another show I would recommend for reading week because the episodes are pretty long so you need to have some more time for it.
- The Hookup Plan (Plan Cœur)

This is one of my favorite French shows. It starts off with the main character, Elsa, going through a breakup so her best friends set her up with a prostitute but she doesn’t know he is a prostitute. The prostitute, Jules, and Elsa end up really liking each other but it’s complicated because Elsa doesn’t know that Jules was paid to hang out with her. This whole show is really funny and interesting because it displays a friend group that will do anything for each other (but also make some questionable choices in the process). At the end of the day, they will do anything for each other and I think that’s really great. The second season just came out so I definitely recommend this show!
- The Politician

This show is last on my list but definitely not my least favorite. I always have a hard time explaining this show to my friends because it’s so different from any show that I’ve watched but honestly, it’s so great. It centers on a high school student, Payton Hobart, whose goal in life is to become the President of the United States. One of the stepping stones, according to him, is becoming the Student Body President of his high school. This seems simple enough because he thinks he is going to win, but then his classmate, River, runs against him and this starts Payton down a path where he will do anything to win. There is a great cast in this show and Ben Platt plays Payton which is cool because Ben Platt is an incredible singer (he even sings a song in the first episode). Also Ryan Murphy is the creator of the show – he also created Glee so that should be enough to convince you to watch it right there.
