1. Fear

So you just received word in the sorority group chat that your date party is coming up soon. Do you ask last night’s DFMO? The hot guy in your English class? A friend, so that you can avoid any awkward interaction? I’m getting nervous just thinking about it!

2. Security

After the cringy text interaction (ex: Hey! This is ______ from English. Do you wanna go to the _______ date party with me?) you were able to nab a date. If you’re like me, this text was sent extremely last minute, and the relief you feel when they answer “yes” is better than getting an A on the hardest bio exam of the semester.

3. Prep

Because we are all college students, you most likely start getting ready thirty minutes before the party. You change your dress at least six times and then eventually decide on the first dress that you originally deemed too ugly. You’ll meticulously do your hair and makeup, knowing that in thirty minutes it will all be completely ruined and you’ll be hair twins with Hermione Granger.

4. Endurance

All I’m gonna say is chugging your drink before arriving to the venue should be a competitive sport.

5. Arrival

You finally arrived! If you’re under 21, you’ll role into the venue with an aggressively large black X plastered on the back of your hand. You make a bee-line to the buffet and load up on mozzarella sticks, spinach dip, and Swedish meatballs (all the things you’ll regret eating the next day).

6. Cringe

Let’s admit it: there’s always that one person that will catch your attention. Whether they’re a little too sloppy on the dance floor or they’re getting into a physical altercation with the waiter, (not making that one up) there’s always some excellent people watching options.

7. Goodbye

After dancing the night away on six inch heels and wearing a dress that feels like a waist trainer, you’re ready to go home. On the walk back to your dorm, your friend tries to convince you to go to a mixer that her friend’s boyfriend’s roommate’s teammate’s lab partner is throwing, but the thought of your bed sounds like heaven.
