Everyone’s excited to see the new Marvel TV shows and the Disney Princess movies, but what are some other classics you forgot about that are available to stream on Disney Plus?

1. Lemonade Mouth

This Disney Channel Original movie starring Bridgit Mendler, Adam Hicks, Naomi Scott, Hayley Kioko, and Blake Michael debuted in 2011. It tells the story of 5 high school students who meet in detention who join to start a band in an overwhelmingly sports-emphasized school. It has an actually great soundtrack, and was met with very positive reviews. 2. Holes

Based on the novel by Louis Sachar, Holes follows a boy with a family curse of bad luck to a juvenile detention camp where boys are forced to dig a hole every day in a dried-up lake. Many of us had to read this book in school, or read it when we were younger. It has a wonderful plot and the movie captures the spirit of the young men who solve the mystery behind why they’re digging in the lake.  3. The Rescuers and The Rescuers Down Under

I had completely forgotten about these classic Disney animated movies from my childhood. The Rescuers is about a society of mice that answer calls for help from children around the world that humans don’t take seriously. The first movie was released in 1977, with its sequel releasing in 1990, making it the first Disney animated film to have a sequel.  4. The Parent Trap

The original and remake starring Lindsay Lohan are both available on the streaming platform. Identical twins Annie and Hallie, both played by Lohan, end up at the same summer camp and realize each one of the biological parents took one of them to raise at birth, and hatch a plan to get their parents back together again. 5. Flubber

This classic 1997 Robin Williams film is about an absent-minded professor and chemist who accidentally creates an indestructible flying green substance he calls “flubber,” which subsequently gets chased after by businessmen and millionaires.  6. Halloweentown

This 1998 Disney Channel Original movie tells the story of Marnie, Dylan, and Sophie, the three grandchildren of a witch (unbeknownst to them). Marnie doesn’t understand why her mother won’t let her go out for Halloween, until she hears her mother and grandmother arguing and realizes they are secretly witches. The children follow their grandmother back to a place called Halloweentown, where all sorts of creatures live together in one place.

7. Mighty Joe Young

This movie was a frequent flyer in our household- the story of a giant mountain gorilla and a young girl who are both orphaned the same night by poachers. Jill Young grows up to be a zoologist and raises the baby gorilla, which grows to be 15 feet tall and 2,000 pounds. However, the poacher who killed their parents wants revenge for the injuries he sustained the night they died, and has been hunting the two ever since.  8. The Princess Diaries

A very popular film starring Anne Hathaway as Princess Mia Thermopolis and Julie Andrews as her grandmother, the Queen, of a small European country called Genovia. Mia has never known of her heritage until her grandmother shows up in San Francisco one day to declare that she’s the rightful heir to the throne, and needs to begin princess training. A sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement was released in 2004 adding Chris Pine to the cast.
