Winter Essentials Guide: If You Go To School Where It’s Absolutely Freezing

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Montclair chapter.

If you go to a school where it’s freezing, like Montclair State always is, you will need some essentials to help you survive the unbearable cold. From a warm, yet chic coat to keep you warm, to a solid skincare routine to save your skin from feeling horrible, here are some winter essentials to help you survive the worst parts of the year.

A Good Quality Coat: Find a coat that hits right around your knees so that most of your body can be protected from the cold. Investing in a coat is extremely important for winter because you want to feel warm and protected in your jacket and you don’t want to keep rebuying cheap coats. Some stores you may want to check out for chic yet cozy coats are Zara, Nordstrom, Aritzia, and Loft!

Hats and Beanies: A hat is essential for walking around campus. It will keep your head super warm and is the perfect addition if you are experiencing a bad hair day. Plus, you can find a ton in different colors and styles!

Blanket Scarves: Blanket scarves are the perfect addition to any outfit and help keep you warm. You can switch out different patterned blanket scarves for different outfits or have one solid colored one to always have to wear with any outfit.

Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is a winter weather savior. Not only can you use this oil to condition your hair, but you can also use it on your skin and as a lip treatment. It’s cheap to buy in bulk and will help transform even the dullest skin into glowing.

Lip Scrub: Sugar lip scrubs are an absolute essential when the freezing wind makes your lips dry and chapped. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment is an absolute must-have and makes the perfect stocking stuffer!

Solid Skincare Routine: If you haven’t yet invested in a good skincare routine yet, now is a perfect time. Look for products that will moisturize your skin and contain organic and natural ingredients to ensure that your skin will be the best that it can be. Just starting out with skincare? Buy an essentials kit to slowly begin a new skincare routine.
