It’s finals season! Whether you’re under a mountain of final projects and essays or you’re drowning in flashcards, it’s impossible to avoid the impending mountain of work you’ll be facing. I personally find that I work more efficently when I change up the environment, and I know I’m not the only one! Here are some of the best study locations around Boston to give you some inspiration for finals!
- Boston Public Library
-
The Boston Public Library is a staple! If you have not gone to study here yet, it is my #1 recommendation. There is both a modern and an “older” wing, so it’s a good variety depending on what mood you’re in. If you’re looking for a more relaxed, chill environment, I recommend setting up shop at a desk in the modern wing. Do you want to feel like you’ve just been transported into a Harry Potter movie? I’d recommend working in Bates Hall!
- Pavement Coffee House
-
This is one my roommate and I accidentally stumbled upon, but has quickly become a favorite (I’m sure it will be for you too). While we worked one afternoon, they cycled through smooth Jazz, 80’s music, and the Sound of Music movie soundtrack! There are eight different locations around Boston, so this is my personal favorite if you’re tired of the same ol’ cafe.
- Cafe Nero
-
There’s a Cafe Nero almost everywhere I look here in Boston, so why not use this as your final seasons study space? My closest Cafe Nero always has a really great studying vibe complete with a fireplace and decorative books lining the walls, which instantly inspires me to crack down on my homework.
- Boston Public Garden
-
Since we are about to be covered in snow and ice in Boston, this may be one to keep in your repertoire for your spring study sessions. Located just next to the Boston Common, the Boston Public Garden is one of the most serene places in all of Boston. It’s the absolute best place to get some reading done, people watch, and see a geese or two.
- Thinking Cup Coffee Shop
-
Thinking Cup is located only a few steps from Emerson’s campus, so this is a great little getaway for your studies! Tables here can be scarce, but if you manage to snatch one you can sit here for hours. Heads up: they don’t have wifi, so make sure to have your phone hotspot or work on assignments that don’t require wifi.
