The Cookieshake lounge is located not far from Pizza Express and Frankie & Benny’s on Upper Parliament Street. The venue is a cafe during the day and then converts into a bar at night. So it is certainly worth a visit at any hour!

The menu is bound to satisfy your sweet tooth, from their signature shakes to megashakes, ice-cream, smoothies and hot chocolate. I highly recommend the Caramel Fantasy Shake or Terry’s Chocolate Orange Hot Chocolate. Not only were they delicious but we weren’t left waiting ages for our order to arrive.

The décor is also cute with plenty of seating available; it’s the perfect spot to go for a girly catch-up or on a family outing.

At night is where this bar really shines, on a weekday the place was quiet, not completely empty but it was very easy to find seating. This made the atmosphere seem relaxed and stress free. The most unique aspect of Cookieshake is their weird and wonderful range of flavoured shots, including: battenberg, marmite, jammie dodger and cheesecake. From personal experience you should definitely try the chocolate brownie shot for sweetness and the killer chilli shot for originality. Although the latter tasted very similar to Nandos’ peri-peri sauce! I was going to try marmite but chickened out last minute… I do hate marmite after all!

Not only does this bar have an impressive range of alcohol flavours but the prices are extremely affordable, especially for students. Students can claim 10% off shakes, so bring that student card! Not to mention the deals on during the week: for only £5.50 you can get five shots and a bottle of VK or Carlsberg, or fish bowls for only ten pounds. This makes it a perfect place to pre before Rock City. Alternatively, it’s a great spot to just chill out without spending a small fortune on alcohol.

This little café-bar is a great venue, ideal for either a chilled dessert trip or a cheeky pres sesh. It’s one of Nottingham’s hidden dessert lounges, with more style than Treatz or Creamz. Even in the evening it’s worth visiting to test out all the wacky flavoured shots and to get in on the great deals.
