5 Cheap Artsy Dates in Boston

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Art dates can be so much more than holding hands and whispering sweet nothings in the silence of a museum. Boston is a city so incredibly rich in art in its various forms that it’s almost impossible to take a walk around the block without seeing a statue of a historical figure or a contemporary piece that will leave you in awe. Below are five perfect low-cost places to observe beautiful art with your partner for life or your partner in crime.

The Boston Common

Sometimes it’s overlooked, but a simple walk through the common is filled with not only the beauty of nature but incredible statues that are a blast from the past. Special bonus: thanks to the chilly temperature, you have an excuse to hold your significant other close while you stroll through the park.

The Museum of Fine Arts

If you have your heart set on a museum, admission at the MFA on Wednesdays after 4 pm is suggested donation only, so you and your partner can have the cute museum date of your dreams at a low cost or for free.

Restoration Hardware

I know it sounds ridiculous—  who would go on a date to a furniture store? But Restoration Hardware is a fun place to play house surrounded by beautiful statues and sweeping chandeliers. And who knows? Maybe you and your partner will be inspired by the interior design to revamp your own spaces.

The Boston Public Library

Filled with a treasure trove of paintings and statues, the Boston Public Library is perfect for a cute date, especially if you want cute photos for your Instagram feed. Not only is the library filled with priceless art, but the architecture is breathtaking and the fountain in the open-air courtyard is the perfect place to take a seat and cloud watch.

Newbury Comics

Music is some of the best art out there, and Newbury Comics has a large selection of vinyls and CDs that suit every taste. Spend hours looking for the perfect art to satisfy your ears, or grab your partner and dance to the record playing over the speakers in the store.

If all else fails, there’s always admiring the beauty of your significant other.

Cats, spaghetti, and the Oxford comma.
