Starting the Semester Off With A Bang: The Silent Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CAU chapter.

Clark Atlanta University’s CAB, aka Campus Activities Board organization, did an amazing job with picking events for their “Welcome Back Week”. There were three DJs’ that all attend Clark Atlanta University. This was also a cool thing because as a school we support others’ talents, so having them come out and basically sow off their skills was amazing. Of course, at an HBCU, a silent party isn’t really silent, but that made it all the more fun. This event took place on the third floor of the Clark Atlanta University student center in the MPR Room. CAB cleared the area that is usually filled with chairs and set the three DJ booths on the stage area. There were some technical difficulties, but once they sorted out the problems it was so hype. For this event, all of the DJs all varied in style and mixes which they executed in the music they played. There was the blue station which was played by DJ Rayymonbeatz. He kept his channel very southern with artists such as Gunna, Young Thug, and T.I. The red station, Dj King Kai, kept it very steady with Pop Smoke and similar artists, Jamaican artists, and slow songs. The green station was Dj Cruz who flipped from slow music, childhood classics aka 2000s music, and cult classics as well.

I reached out to a few students of CAU to see what the highlight of the event was for them. Freshman Mass Media Arts major, Nailani Holmes, said that “It was the best party of the semester.” She danced all night from the beginning of the party to the end. Although she enjoyed all three stations, her headphones stayed on the blue channel mostly. I also talked to freshman Mass Media Arts major Shariden Truly, who said “My highlight of the night was when DJ King Kai started playing Pop Smoke! He is my favorite artist! But then he played the Proud Family theme song and everyone in the room literally turned their headphones to red.”

Lastly, I talked to freshman Criminal Justice major, Psychology minor Emily Allen who stated, “When DJ Rayymonbeatz played ‘Set It Off’ By Lil Boosie, I got so hype! The beat of that song just gets me too turnt, so I was jumping all around screaming to the top of my lungs!” Although I personally enjoyed all the events, the highlight of the week has to be that amazing silent party. I went with a group of my close friends from my hall and throughout the whole night, we kept singing and dancing. There was never a dull moment and that is what made the event really nice and enjoyable. Throughout the entire night, everyone’s headphones would switch from blue, red, then green, then all over again.”

The silent party was jumping from beginning to end. It was such a good party that when the lights came on, people were refusing to leave, so DJ Rayymonbeatz got on the mic and starting to sing its time to go (he is so funny). The party gave the new semester a bang to start!
