Concerts 101: Tips and Tricks For When You’re On A Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Louisiana Tech chapter.

I don’t know about you, but for me attending concerts is one of my favorite things to do. It’s on the top of my list when planning an adventure, getaway, or simply a Saturday night. There is nothing like the millions of phone flashlights illuminating the crowd as everyone comes together to scream the lyrics at the top of their lungs. As amazing as they are, oftentimes concerts can break the bank. People are willing to drop hundreds to watch their favorite artists. The price tag can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be.

One thing that really helps us concert lovers is the app Ticket Master. This app really helps me when comparing prices, locations, and artists. When you download the app, you are given the option to choose your favorite artists and enter your location. Now every time an artist you love is having a concert near you, you’ll know. This app keeps you in the know in every aspect and keeps your planning on one platform. It’s a super helpful tool that you can have at the tips of your fingertips.

On everyone’s bucket list there is always that one artist they want to see before they die. It’s the concert you’ve always dreamed of and are praying to see one day. Whether or not you can go to your favorite artist’s concert depends on who it is. The more popular the artist the more expensive the tickets. If you’re debating on who to see, and you’re on a budget, make sure to compare the varying ticket prices first. It’s okay to wait for your favorite artist in order to be able to experience another artist you love.

Ticket prices are often the number one reason for not being able to attend a concert. Prices can range from thirty dollars to upwards of one hundred not including processing fees. It’s hard to feel as though concerts are affordable when the tickets seem out of range. Don’t get discouraged when you see a number out of your budget. Keep up with that artist, various ticket selling platforms, and check prices until the day of the concert. Ticket prices can continuously fluctuate from presale to sometimes the day of the concert. If you keep an eye out often times the price will fall right into your budget.

Where you live can also play a big role in planning on a budget. If a concert isn’t in your area you may have to travel to see your artist. Traveling can put a much bigger damper on your budget. You have to decide how far you’re willing to travel, whether you’re going to need a hotel and everything in between. It can add up quickly. If you have to travel, try to get a group to all go to the concert together. Splitting the bill makes the trip much more feasible and it’s a great getaway to have with friends. Having to travel can be discouraging, but it’s still doable.

Concerts can be expensive, but with these tips it’s doable and one hundred percent worth it. You’re paying for an amazing experience, so don’t give up when it seems impossible. It won’t be easy budgeting and planning a possible trip, but the end goal is a night you’ll remember forever!

As a little girl, I spent hours writing stories. Obviously they weren't exactly bestsellers, but it was my passion nevertheless. I would fill up my notebooks with everything I didn't know how to say out loud, and anything I could imagine. Now, as a college student, I'm chasing my dream one word at a time. I'm currently studying English and Marketing, with the intention of becoming an editor.
