Picture this: you’re in the middle of an all-day study-a-thon on campus. You thought you packed lots of snacks for the day but have somehow managed to work your way through your hummus and veg, sandwich, overnight oats, apples and peanut butter and a bag of trail mix. You feel your stomach start to rumble. You check your watch; you still have 3 more hours before you can go home. You finally decide to give in and just buy something on campus, but what should you get to satisfy your snack attack? I present to you, my friend, a list of the seven best snacks to buy on campus.

Date Square — Bean There

If you’re in the mood for something a little bit sweet that will sustain you for more than 30 seconds, go for a date square from Bean There in the SUB. The squares are gigantic, satisfying and, most importantly, reasonably priced.

Samosa — Biblio

This one is a UVic Food Services classic. Yes, it’s annoying that you have to pay extra for the chutney, but trust me, it’s worth it.

Peanut Butter Energy Ball — Munchie Ba

I have a friend who raves about the peanut butter energy ball from Munchie Bar. It’s packed with delicious and healthy ingredients and is vegan to boot! You’ll want to get one early in the day, as they sell out fast.

Pumpkin Scone — Various UVic food services location

I know pumpkin-flavoured treats are typically a fall thing, but I could eat pumpkin scones in any season. Luckily, UVic Food Services sells them all year round and at multiple locations around campus.

Popcorn — Munchie Bar

Popcorn isn’t just a movie snack, it’s a great study snack too. Just be sure you’re not eating it in a quiet area, as the crunching can be a little loud while others are trying to study.

Breakfast Sandwich — Bean Ther

Maybe you skipped breakfast or are just looking for a mid-morning snack? The Bean There breakfast sandwich is a filling option that gives McDonalds Egg McMuffin a run for its money.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Oat Bar — Various UVic Food Services location

Another UVic Food Services staple, the chocolate peanut butter oat bar combines everybody’s favourite ingredients for a yummy study snack that will get you through those long library sessions.

The next time you’re on campus and feel yourself getting a little hangry or needing a little study pick-me-up, try one of these seven glorious snacks.
