Do you ever feel like you’re listening to the same music over and over again? We all have our favorite playlists that we listen to daily, but we could all use something new and fresh in our lives from time to time. If you’re a music fan and love to curate playlists, here’s five artists you need to listen to:

Lolo Zouaï

Lolo Zouaï is an artist whose name is associated with addictive R&B, penning sultry lyrics and future-slanted production in her songs. As a Bay Area teenager, Lolo incorporated her French-Algerian background into her music, and began writing in places such as Ocean Beach in San Francisco. Her debut album, High Highs to Low Lows was released in 2019.

Songs to listen to: Moi, High Highs to Low Lows, Lose Myself, Desert Rose, Brooklyn Love

Finneas

You may know him as Billie Eilish’s brother, but Finneas has established himself as a force in the music industry. Finneas’ solo music is lyrically powerful, as he often opts for ballads for his single choices. Aside from writing music with Billie, Finneas has produced and co-written songs with artists like Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Halsey and Tove Lo. Finneas took home five GRAMMY awards in January, with Producer of the Year and Album of the Year serving as some of the major wins.

Songs to listen to: I Don’t Miss You at All, Claudia, Angel, Break My Heart Again, I Lost a Friend

Omar Apollo

Omar Apollo gained traction online through posting covers, combining his Mexican background and R&B style to create a new path for aspiring Chicano singer/songwriters. Omar’s music is a mix of R&B and bilingual indie pop, and it’s only a matter of time before independent, bilingual indie pop becomes a popular genre in the music industry.

Songs to listen to: Frio, Amor Malo, Hit Me Up, Friends, Hearing Your Voice

Tate McRae

Canadian singer/songwriter Tate McRae brings an honest, vulnerable and emotional feeling to her music, penning lyrics that have garnered her millions of views on her YouTube channel. Tate accredits her traveling to the storytelling narratives she uses in her songs, hoping to have audiences that relate to her music.

Songs to listen to: tear myself apart, all my friends are fake, stupid, Kids Are Alright, Teenage Mind

Audrey Mika

Like many aspiring artists, Audrey built her platform and following on YouTube by posting covers. The Oakland-born and now Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter writes her songs with an impressive level of intimacy, using her soft yet powerful vocals to sing about life’s trials and tribulations. Audrey just released her EP 5 A.M., which includes Tik Tok viral hit Y U Gotta B Like That.

Songs to listen to: Y U Gotta B Like That, Fake Heartbreak, 2008, Blueberry Skies, Distracted
