We celebrate Black history month to recognize the sacrifices, contributions, and achievements of African Americans to the United States and the world. It opens our eyes to history, culture, and art. Those who are of another race are now aware of prejudices and historical contexts of what they see or hear in the media regarding African Americans. If we take the time to truly empathize and educate ourselves we will find that we are all humans that deserve respect regardless of our skin color.
From Eritrea to the Bronx we can learn different cuisines, types of dance, music, and their beautiful hair, and so much more. Take the time to truly get to know someone of a different race and learn their customs and their life story. Sadly, we live in a world where your race can change how others act towards you and how they talk to you. Let’s end this by simply being humane and loving everyone.
