Why Tri Sigma Is the Sorority For You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Lynn chapter.

Choosing a sorority to join can be a very overwhelming process, trust me I know all to well. With that being said, as time came to choose a sorority in the end only one captured my heart and that was Sigma Sigma Sigma (Tri Sigma). It called to me because of its service,  the overall sisterhood I saw between the girls and its values.

Wisdom, power, faith, hope and love are some of the long standing core values of this sorority. The wisdom being seen through the knowledge being passed down from sister to sister. Power being created through the unity amongst the sisters. Faith in each other and the work being done. The love being projected into the world and one another.

All of those values can be seen in the service/philanthropic work that they are involved in. The Eta Eta chapter alone doesn’t just fundraise, but they actually get involved by partaking in different events within the community. Being that this chapter is located in South Florida, majority of the service events are walks. So you could always catch a group of sisters supporting at Relay for Life, breast cancer walks, March of Dimes, etc.

Moreover, aside from their values and service, the bond that I saw amongst the sisters was the icing on the cake for me. Being an only child, I always wanted that “sisterly bond.” However, it wasn’t until I saw a few of the sisters of this sorority hanging out with each other that I noticed that it wasn’t just the “sisterly bond” that I was seeking, it was a different type of bond. You might be saying to yourself that everyone can have a bond with someone, and yes that is true. However, these sisters have something more, they have genuine bond, a genuine bond that is very hard to find and once found even harder to keep.

All of these things are what makes the Eta Eta chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma not only dear and true to my heart, but an overall inspiration to many.
