This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

The Northeast Florida VegFest makes its way to Tallahassee for another year! The event is taking place at Tom Brown Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be promoting clean eating, consuming and cooking!

When: Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020

           10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Where: Tom Brown Park,

            443-557 Easterwood Drive

            Tallahassee, FL 32311

What: FREE event!

The food festival, which started in 2010 in Jacksonville, FL has grown exceptionally and has been hosted in numerous cities across the state including Gainesville and Tallahassee. This year will be the 6th anniversary of the up and coming festival for the Tallahassee area. It is FREE and hosted in a park that is pet-friendly, so be sure to bring your furry friends and a leash!

According to the Facebook page for the Northeast Florida VegFest, the event will feature: “…speakers, cooking demos, food vendors, healthy living and eco-friendly vendors, animal sanctuaries, non-profits, kids activities, free yoga and free vegan food samples!”

The event is brought to us by Girls Gone Green, a non-profit organization with a focus on the well-being of the planet, and for the humane treatment for animals. They host not only the NEFVF but an event called No Meat March. No Meat March serves as a 31-day challenge that provides a way for participants to find new plant-based recipes to kick out the meat from their diet- even if it only is for the month.

Their site provided an amazing plethora of recipes, meat substitute options, resources and a community of others who have taken the challenge. And since it’s based in Florida, all products are available for the Florida area in mind!

The Northeast Florida VegFest is a step in the right direction in opening a world in plant-based dieting and lifestyles. There you can hear from experienced vegetarians and vegans about how to maintain a life with a healthy planet in mind! From a video they posted on their site, anyone can see the vendors that they have who make fresh-food on sight, sell pre-made products and sell other various wares like handmade jewelry and clothing!
