It’s no secret that spring is all about bright colors. It’s out with the cold and in with the bold (and it really can’t come soon enough)! Winter has been dominated by neutral sweaters, monochromatic looks and layers on layers on layers, but we promise it’s almost over. The fashion looks set to rise in the first spring of the new decade have been set.

The new year has a million meanings, but in the fashion world it means a new year of styles and trends. On all the runways and magazines stands, you’ll find out what’s in, what’s out and what’s staying for another year. The best part? New year, new color! Turns out, cool tones are taking over this spring.

Miranda Priestly said it best in The Devil Wears Prada, “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” I think we’re well past the clichés of spring fashion. This spring season, we’re about to see unexpected shades of colors taking over the trends.

Classic Blue

According to Pantone, 2020 has been named the year of classic blue. It’s a polished and chic color that can easily be transformed from professional day to classy night. There have been resistors and other colors have been crowned. After all, fashion is about making your own rules.

Monochrome

Monochromatic looks have gotten huge, especially white and cream monochrome ‘fits. I’m sure these colors will carry over, with entire outfits curated different shades of one color. Monochrome adds variety to your look while incorporating just a single color. It’s the shades that make it dynamic and eye-catching!

Neon

The fashion world said blue, and Etsy said chartreuse. Neon is here to stay, but we’ll see it reworked into matching sets, swimwear and tie-dye. You can really see this in some of my favorite celeb style icons such as Madison Beer and Gigi Hadid thanks to Steal Her Style!

Color can be intimidating, especially when neutrals are your best friend (guilty). However, there are easy ways to incorporate spring trends into your wardrobe. You’ll brighten up your closet and bring boldness to your looks.

Know the colors? Let’s style them!

Statement pieces are a surefire way to add a little color to your life. Some of my favorites that have been dominating my social media (and Pinterest boards) lately have been wide-leg pants, cropped cardigans and matching sets.

Wide leg statement pants with a plain tank or a graphic tee is a perfect look for class, running errands, grabbing coffee or shopping with friends. It’s comfortable but also an accessible way to add some color to your closet. You barely have to think about it!

The Cardigan

Urban Outfitters

Cropped cardigans are another simple (and currently popular) way to add in some color. They’ll keep you warm in the light spring breeze and still allow you to keep your ‘fit simple and carefree. You can throw them over a mini dress, jeans and a tank or just wear them on their own! It’s also an easy way to incorporate some chartreuse into your wardrobe (thanks to Brandy Melville).

This is also another great opportunity to use some monochromatic styling! Layer your cardigan over a tank a shade of the same color for a vibrant yet simple look.

Matching sets are all the rave right now. They’re a one-stop-shop and perfect for those days you’re running out the door but still look together! 2019 put in the work, but it’s official in 2020: it’s finally acceptable, and even fashionable, to wear athleisure and matching sweat sets on the daily. One of my favorite YouTubers, Margot Lee, knows all the best loungewear sets.

Halotied’s items are all handmade. They’re having a huge restock in the coming weeks! You can snag matching cropped tanks, hoodies and sweats!

Another great brand is Set Active. As the name suggests, they have athleisure sets of all colors. With an easy-to-browse website, you’ll be shopping for hours.

White Fox Boutique has a whole section on their site for two-piece sets in a range of colors and patterns. From athleisure to more formal looks, they’ve got it all.

Never forget about the power of accessories. Though small, they’re an easy way to sneak in some color and break up a simple neutral outfit. They’re perfect for when you don’t want to fully commit but still want to stand out. Adding a bright belt, a neon beanie or a bold purse will instantly draw the eye. Not to mention, accessories serve as a brightly colored prop for your IG feed!
