I love reading, but I have to be honest: most of the books that I do read are on the sadder side or are not uplifting. Instead they just leave me with tear stained cheeks wondering what I should be doing with my life. However, recently I’ve been in the mood for something a bit more uplifting than that, so I thought I’d share some of my favorite fun books!

Anything by Rick Riordan (specifically the Percy Jackson and the Olympians)

⚡Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series⚡ Percy Jackson is a boy who gets sent to Camp Half-blood by his mom. He finds out he is a demi-god and his father is Poseidon, God of the Sea. In each book, Percy has to save something or overcome some obstacle but the main obstacle are the Titans and the mythical creatures that are working for them and trying to stop Percy and the Olympians. The setting of these books is really cool and you learn so much about Greek mythology which is really awesome. I wish I would have read them when I was younger though cause I think I would have enjoyed them more but they were still good books to read at my age. Definitely recommend reading if you want some fantasy, mythological adventure! #percyjackson #percyjacksonandtheolympians #book #library #bookstore #booklover #booklove #bookdragon #bookworm #vsco #vscocam #bookstore #chill #bookinsta #bookinstagram #read #reading #readingchallenge #nerd #booknerd #books #bookshelf #bibliophile #beautifulbooks #goodreads #thriftbooks #bookstagram #bookstagramfeatures #bookish #cozy #adventure

If you want a good laugh, then there is no wrong choice with Rick Riordan. Each of his books, even when dealing with serious topics, always find a way to make me feel better. It is so much fun to be invested in the world of demigods and taking those quizzes to see which Olympian is your parent. Or maybe you don’t care that much about Greek mythology. That’s okay, because he has written a series about Egyptian and Nordic mythology as well. These books are middle grade, but that just makes them all the more enjoyable to read, as they are a light and fun breeze without taking up too much brain power.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

I’m pretty sure everyone has also read this one, but to me it is such a classic book that fills me with so much joy. I don’t know if that’s from going back to Hogwarts (again), or just seeing the innocence of the main trio in the first book totally unaware of what the future has in store for them. Whatever the reason happens to be, I am always in a better mood when I read Harry Potter.

A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall

This is a short but cute romance novel, told from various perspectives except for the two main characters. I’ve only read this book once, but whenever I think about it, it puts a smile on my face because I enjoyed reading it so much. Fair warning though, as with any romance novel, it does have a bit of angst. However, if you are looking for a cute pick-me-up, then this is the right book for you.

The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien

This is another classic, and while there is a sort of cult following around this book as well as the Lord of the Rings trilogy, this book deserves the following. Tolkien’s writing style can take a bit of getting used to, but it is so captivating. It is a fun adventure book that tells the story of friendship, and while there are some sad parts, it is uplifting in the end.

Whatever you are up to, I hope you are keeping a positive outlook.  Maybe pick up something fun to read in order to help relieve some stress!
