Based on the title of this article I’m sure you’re thinking, “Is she serious?” Yes. I’m very serious about this. When my roommate suggested we watch the series, my inner reality TV junkie was fully prepared to dive right in. With one of my favorite TV shows being the Real Housewives of New Jersey, I figured this show was right up my alley.
On the show, there’s five guys and five girls who all share a villa. At various times, the producers will have them play games, send them on dates, and even introduce new guys or girls to the villa. To keep the number even, they need to send people home when they bring new people in. Just when you think someone may be coupled up or fully single, the show always throws you for a loop.
The first main perk of this show is how frequently it airs. With COVID-19, there hasn’t been many shows filming, hence CBS needing to fill the channels gaps. The producers are putting out a new episode five days a week. This has been one of my favorite aspects because now, there’s no more waiting a week after the cliff-hanger previews. Not only does this give me something to look forward to each night, but it’s also a way for my roommates and I to come together at the end of the day.
The next reason you need to watch this show is because of the drama. Just went you think everything is winding down and the contestants are happily coupled up, the producers will throw in a new person or purposely separate the couple. Because there’s so many opportunities for things to change, I have continued to stay intrigued by the drama. Even with a new episode every day, my roommates and I are still hooked.
Lastly, the show is interactive. If you want the show live, you can download the affiliated app and vote for various things, including who you want to go home. It’s really interesting to see how America can potentially determine the couples fate.
This is definitely one of my new favorite shows and I don’t want it to end. With new people coming in and out, you can’t even predict how things may change because you never know who may stay or go. If you haven’t started Love Island, go start it now- it’s so worth it. Oh, and Love Island is better than the Bachelor/Bachelorette. There, I said it.
