Feel like every day seems to be a loop like the movie “Groundhog Day”? Or just not excited about having to do school at home? Let’s talk about adding something new to these feelings and so you can feel good too!

  1. Switch up your current routine: Waking up past 1 to do classes and taking naps till the evening sounds great right? Not until you’re staying up all night doing homework and causing stress for yourself. One way to switch this up is by waking up earlier. Sounds horrible, but let’s add another ingredient. Try to set an activity in the morning that makes you feel good. Maybe you’re feeling spontaneous, and want to roller skate or ride your bike in your afternoons. Whatever activity comes to your mind, add it to your current routine.

  2. When You Actually Wake up early: You got a whole day set for fun. Whether it’s cramming in last-minute assignments or last-minute plans with friends, the day is set for anything. But it needs that time for those activities. Start the day by doing something you enjoy. Whether that’s waking up for yummy breakfast and watching a movie, or waking up to go

  3. Sleep & night activities: Seriously, that beautiful brain needs to rest. Don’t try to put yourself to sleep 3 hours more than what you’re usually used to. If your normal bedtime is 2 am, let’s try going to sleep at 1:30 am instead. The next night, try going to bed at 1 am. Practicing going to bed 30 minutes earlier before your current bedtime will help your body get used to its new curfew. From there you add another 30 minutes per day until you reach your new curfew. Can’t sleep? Try avoiding that blue light on your phone and journal your thoughts. Read that magazine that’s on your desk. Maybe you’re feeling creative and you want to work on crocheting a comfy scarf. Anything to avoid that screen time. Can’t sleep without going on your phone or computer? Watch a calm movie or series when you do. Watching soothing documentaries from national geographic or the History Channel sets the body for a more restful mood.

  4. Setting activities & being spontaneous: This year has been far but normal. With new stops for everyday life, comes new opportunities for people. Waking up earlier but have nothing planned, let’s plan it! No one wants to start the day by doing something difficult or unenjoyable. As you’re thinking of ideas for the week, think of activities and hobbies you enjoy. Whether that’s riding your bike on Monday, watching a tv series for Tuesdays, or working on your art on Thursdays, add it to your daily activity. Have a friend that’s also staying at your hometown or home city during the semester, do activities with them! It makes hobbies more enjoyable and you get a little motivation to actually do them with a friend.

  5. Switching up your current routine for yourself: You clicked on this article for a reason. This is your sign to make a change for yourself! Whether it’s including a hobby you didn’t have time for before the pandemic. Or trying a new skill in your daily life, do it for you! You owe it to yourself after not making time for it before.
