Classic Disney Halloween Movies to Watch Now on Disney Plus

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at LUM chapter.

It may seem contradictory to say I’m a big fan of fall and Halloween, and I hate all things scary, but it’s true. For a long time, I thought I was the only one who didn’t think it was fun to scare yourself with horror films or haunted houses. Thankfully, the older I’ve gotten, the more people I’ve found who share the sentiment, which has been relieving. There’s nothing wrong with not wanting to be scared!

Lucky for us, there are tons of non-scary Halloween movies at our disposal. While “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” is a Halloween classic, there is so much more out there! These picks are all available on Disney Plus, and with October on our doorstep, can help you get into the Halloween spirit.

Halloweentown

I don’t think we could possibly talk about Disney Halloween movies and not start off with Halloweentown. If you haven’t watched the Halloweentown series yet and have Disney Plus, all four movies are waiting for you! To sum it up, Halloweentown is about a family of witches, starring the late, great Debbie Reynolds.

Hocus Pocus

The 1993 classic with everything from spells to a talking cat to a coven of evil witches. Evil witches who happen to be played by Bette Middler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. This is a great option if you’re excited for spooky season, but don’t want to get too spooky.

Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire

I had totally forgotten about this movie until I was scrolling through movie options the other day. Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire is a story of what unfolds when the younger brother thinks his mom’s date is, well, a vampire. It’s a made-for-TV movie that came out in 2000, and can be pretty enjoyable if you don’t expect anything more from it!

Twitches

Unlike most Disney shows and movies, Twitches main characters, twin witches Camryn and Alex, are turning 21 years old at the start of the film. Of course, they’re only meeting at age 21 because they were separated at birth and this is a Disney movie. But hey, they’re college-aged twin witches! Twitches and Twitches Too are both on Disney Plus – yep, they even gave us a sequel!

There you go! I know we kept this list down to four, but with two Twitches movies and four Halloweentown movies, you really have eight Halloween movie options to start with!

Feeling nostalgic yet? As a Disney kid, Disney Plus is a great place to find the holiday movies of my childhood that never get old. What are your favorite Disney Halloween movies? Share with us what you’re watching by tagging us on Instagram, @hcatlum. Happy Halloween!
