As the weather gets colder, people naturally want someone to cuddle up to. This season has been established as “cuffed szn,” meaning the season where everyone either has or wants a significant other (s/o). Of course, not everyone has or wants a s/o, but for those of you who do, here is my list of cute fall themed dates to do with that special person! You can also do these with your family, friends, or anyone else you just want to spend time with while celebrating the new season (and not breaking the bank). Remember to wear your masks!

Have a Movie Night

One of the cheapest and quickest activities to throw together last minute is a movie night! Run to your local grocery store and pick out a few snacks (points if they’re seasonal). Set up a comfy place to watch the movie, such as a fort or even just a bunch of pillows and blankets. For the movie, Disney Plus has a lot of great Halloween classics such as Halloweentown, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Hocus Pocus. If you want something scary, Netflix has a few good ones. You can also rent pretty much any movie on YouTube as well! This date could be less than $10, so if you’re looking for something cheap and relaxing, give this one a shot!

Go to the Pumpkin Patch

I personally think the pumpkin patch is so much fun. This is a great one if you’re big on Instagram because the scenery is perfect for pictures! Not only can you pick pumpkins with your partner, but you can then carve them together or make a treat with them (pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pasta, etc.). And the dollar store tools work decently, or even your knives and spoons at home. You can even paint them if you wanted too! If pumpkins aren’t your thing, patches usually have other things to do such as hayrides, corn mazes, food, apple picking, and many other activities. This date can get pricey if you want it to, but at the bare minimum it’s probably around $15, give or take. If you’re looking for something extremely in season, take your significant other to the pumpkin patch!

Visit A Haunted House

If your s/o is brave, try taking them to a haunted house! There are many haunted attractions in PA that range from creepy to pretty scary, so do your research beforehand. They also range in price. Pennhurst Asylum in Spring City, PA is $45 per person for a basic pass, Field of Screams in Mountville, PA is $35 per person for a premium pass, and although the Eastern State Penitentiary, located in Philadelphia, is not doing their annual Terror Behind The Walls due to COVID-19, they are doing night tours, which are $20 per person. Those are just a few! Pennsylvania is notorious for haunted attractions and places, so the list is endless! You can also visit places known to be haunted such as Aaron Burr’s home, which is now an inn, in New Hope($145-$235), Hansell Road in Buckingham Township ($0), the town of Centralia ($0), or take a tour of Gettysburg ($10-$25). If you and your significant other love scary or haunted places, try one of these places!

Take A Trip to New Hope, PA

New Hope has been one of my family’s personal favorite places to visit in the fall time for years. This town is small, charming, and romantic. Not only is the scenery gorgeous, but New Hope has countless local shops, restaurants, art galleries, wine tastings, bookstores, crystal shops, and some of the best coffee I have ever had. New Hope is also known for being extremely LGBTQ+ friendly, so all couples can feel welcomed in this town. Depending on what you do, New Hope can be expensive. If you go to walk around and maybe grab a bite, ther trip altogether could be as low as $20. I have always loved this cozy little town, so maybe your s/o will too!

Decorate For Halloween Together

This doesn’t sound like a traditional date, but it could be a lot of fun! Go out to Target or your favorite store and pick up some festive Halloween decorations. When you get home, you and your s/o can decorate together while listening to Halloween music! This could be a great activity for those of you in “situationships,” or non-exclusive relationships, since it’s relaxed and an unconventional date. Maybe get some snacks and wine if you’re of age, too. This date is another one that can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to. This one is completely in your control, so have fun with it!

Any of these dates is a sure way to make your significant other feel special and appreciated. However, any of these can be done with your family or friends, or even yourself. Enjoy these ideas with the people you love! And remember to stay safe and have fun!
