5 Cute Costumes for Halloween in College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

Halloween is in ten days. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday because I got to dress up once a year and get a ton of free candy. Even though we are still living in a pandemic, and can’t be going to parties and be having a lot of people over, that doesn’t mean we can’t still dress up and do stuff with a small amount of people. So I have created a list of simple, trendy costumes that you can wear on your own or even with a few of your closest friends.

The first costume is angel and devil. This a very common costume, but it’s a classic. You can do this as a duo costume or wear it on your own. If you want to keep it simple and affordable, all you need for devil is a red top, devil horns, and maybe even some red lipstick. And for angel just a white top and a halo. But you can also go all out and make it as extravagant as you want, it’s a common costume but the possibilities are endless.

The second costume is Cher and Dionne from clueless. This is a great duo costume because this movie is a classic and seeing the yellow and black outfits are iconic and recognizable for most people. It’s also what my best friend and I are doing for Halloween this year so I really like this one.

The third costume is a space cowboy. This has been a very popular costume in the past couple of years, and there are so many ways to do it so even if someone else is the same thing, odds are it’ll look different and you’ll both pull it off anyway.

The fourth costume is a skeleton, but for the people out there who want to go the extra mile and get creative with some makeup. All you need is a black skeleton body suit, and there are so many different kinds, but where this gets exciting is the kind of makeup you do. You can paint a skeleton on your entire face, on your mouth, on one half of your face; there are so many different ways you can approach this idea.

The last costume is, in my opinion, the most iconic college Halloween costume of all time; the playboy bunny. This one is a classic, there’s always going to be someone doing this costume. Another plus of the playboy bunny is that it can be quite affordable. All you need is a black bodysuit and bunny ears. No special makeup, nothing out of the ordinary, it’s the easiest outfit to do.

I know I’m excited to be celebrating Halloween this year. COVID has changed the way this will happen and it is unfortunate, because staying safe is more important and we need to make sure we aren’t putting ourselves or anyone else at risk. However, your mental health is important too and you should have as much fun as possible, just remember to stay safe.
