Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us, including myself, have a tendency to struggle with doing work. Getting outside, being social (and safe) is integral to our lives and allows us to focus and study when it’s time.
When stuck at home, it is kind of hard to focus. Obviously, most of our classes are online and some people have remote jobs, making it even more difficult to focus. Despite all of my classes being online, it seems like my family thinks that school isn’t so hard and that I’m in my own online world.
When it comes to my remote internship, it’s hard to do the work. But, at the end of the day, we have deadlines to meet and assignments to turn in. Here are a few ways I manage my new online reality.
1. Study for a set amount of time, then take a five minute break.
Some people study for hours and never take breaks. However, when a person studies for at least 25 minutes to an hour and then takes a five minute break in between, they have a tendency to remember more information and get more done.
2. Try to get at least six to eight hours of sleep each night.
Yes, working out, eating healthy, drinking coffee and taking your vitamins gives you energy, but getting enough sleep helps you be more productive. This is easier said than done, but even taking a short power nap in the middle of the day will have you feeling energized and productive.
3. Go outside.
I personally get bored at home and want to go out. We have to be careful with everything that has been going on, but at the same time, it is okay to explore outside. Just don’t forget to social distance and wear a mask.
Try going on a hike in nature where it’s more open. You don’t want to stay in the house all day.
4. Study with a friend.
No one wants to be alone all the time. While meeting up with people can be difficult right now, consider a socially distant study session. Or if you can’t meet in person, a face time call works just as well.
