Much to the fans’ relief, according to Netflix, the fourth season of “The Crown” will arrive at the streaming platform on November 15th, and Margaret Thatcher (Gillian Anderson), the first female Prime Minister of the British history, should be one of the highlights.

The teaser, released at the beginning of november, already revealed scenes of some discussion between Thatcher and Queen Elizabeth II (Olivia Colman), and the portrayal of  the economic crises that hit the kingdom. So, the period represented in this fourth season is between 1979 and 1990, the rise and fall of The Iron Lady and her clashes with the Queen.

Another plot that will be shown is the queen’s search for a woman to her heir, Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor) – that means that Diana (Emma Corrin) will be introduced in the production, but represented in her youth and during her relationship with the Prince. The wedding between them, that would put Lady Di under the world’s spotlight, should be the climax of the season, that will also represent “the people’s princess” as the independent and strong personality figure she was.

The show will also portray the end of Prince Charles’ affair with Camilla Parker Bowles (Emerald Fennell) and, then, the beginning of his relationship with Diana – as well as her connection with the Royal Family, the marital infidelities she was submitted to and the impacts that that had in her health.

Even though the show finished shooting before the COVID-19 pandemic, the word is that “The Crown” will go on a long hiatus. The fifth season should get to the screens only in 2022, linking to the sixth and last season. This one, the fourth, should have ten episodes, each one showing a new fact of the time and having 50 minutes of duration. The first three seasons are available on Netflix
