Songs from Good News That Will Make You Feel Like a Bad B**ch

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UIC chapter.

So, I recently sat down and listened to Megan Thee Stallion’s new debut album, Good News. Megan Thee Stallion is one of my favorite artists. 2020 has been quite a year for all of us. One of the ways I get by is listening to music. So, here are some songs that are a must-have to add to your playlist from Good News. Her songs promote sexual liberation, body-positivity, and encourage women to be their best selves.

Savage (Remix) ft. Beyoncé

The track Savage is one of my favorites, not only because it features the singing and rapping talents of none other than Queen B, but because it is guaranteed to make you feel empowered. Savage is more than just a song, it’s a mindset. Play it when you wake up in the morning to get you into the feeling that nobody can tell you s**t.

Shots Fired

This year we saw Megan and black women face a lot of adversity. Megan addresses her shooting in one song, simply addressing her haters. She does more than just defend herself, however, as her songs stand a message to protect all black women. She also takes time to speak about Breonna Taylor and the lack of regard towards black women and their pain.

Girls In the Hood

This song encompasses Megan on a song that addresses her beauty, rumors, and what it means to be a hot girl. Megan embodies confidence, beauty, and self-awareness. This track represents what it means to be an independent, bad a**, phenomenal woman. This song for me to listen to reminds me to focus on my two biggest priorities: my mind and my money.

I have been a fan of Megan’s music for quite some time, and I have seen her flourish this year in her music career. She is now a successful, GRAMMY-nominated artist with an incredible talent that is finally being acknowledged. I hope with this handful of songs you can get some of the same musical therapy her songs have given me.
