The Truth Is Out: We Ranked 6 Of These Classic Holiday Treats

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

The holidays are my all-time favorite season, and I’m so excited that the season is almost here! For those who celebrate, how could you not love it? The music, the decorations, the gift-giving and of course, the FOOD! Personally, I believe that the holiday season would not be nearly as sweet (haha) without certain classics, but I wanted to know my friends’ go-tos (yes, this is what I think about instead of studying oops). So I took it upon myself to text all my groupchats asking my friends to rate their favorites! So now, without further ado, I bring you the most popular Christmas treats as ranked by Bruins:

Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate has solidified its lead by a longshot. In basically every groupchat I texted my poll to, this was the winner, and I definitely agree with it! Sure, it might seem a little basic, but how could you go without it? It’s incredibly easy to make, tastes soooo good and gives you a warm feeling inside! Just add some marshmallows and you’re in heaven. I approve!

Sugar Cookies (of any kind)

Yes! You can’t go wrong with some good old sugar cookies. And the best part is that you can make an entire day out of decorating them! My favorites are the Pillsbury Christmas ones, what are your favorites?

Peppermint Bark

This one surprised me! I’ve never had peppermint bark before, but it looks like it’s a crowd pleaser! I’ll definitely be sure to try these this holiday season.

Gingerbread Cookies/Houses

Even though these aren’t my favorite holiday treat, I expected these to be higher up on the list. Don’t get me wrong, making gingerbread houses (aka eating all the frosting) is so much fun, but the end result doesn’t go as hard as some Pillsbury cookies in my opinion. Still, they’re adorable and good to have during the season for the heck of it!

Candy Canes

I don’t have much to say about candy canes honestly. They’re just kind of always there at holiday parties and grocery stores, so I might have one or two during the Christmas season. They’re not bad and they’re not amazing, so this ranking doesn’t surprise me much.

Eggnog

Okay this one didn’t surprise me at all… I think eggnog is awful and it looks like most people agree (it got zero votes overall). It’s just way too much egg for me; I can already feel my stomach growling just by looking at the picture.

Which one is your favorite? Writing this article made me even more excited for the holiday season than I already was, but it also made me crave every single one of these treats (except eggnog of course). So don’t mind me, I’ll just be running to the grocery store to stock up on all of these sweets!
