Fun Christmas Treats to Make for the Holidays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Purdue chapter.

Yes, I’m spamming you with more food recipes. I just love to bake, but especially around the holidays. My favorite Christmas memories are spent baking and I love to see my creations enjoyed by my family and friends. I will always remember decorating cookies with my mom every year and seeing the plate empty after Santa, or my dad, ate them on Christmas Day. It’s the memories I hold most dear. Here are four easy, but delicious recipes to make this year!

Peppermint Bark Cookies:

Make a double chocolate chip cookie dough or buy a packet at the store. When baked and chilled, dip a half of the cookie in melted white chocolate and cover in crushed candy canes. Set and enjoy!

Christmas Tree Brownies:

Buy a brownie mix at the store and bake as directed. When cool, cut up the brownie into triangles. Have a bowl of white icing, dyed green, and spread the icing on top of the brownie triangle. For a cleaner look, use a piping bag with a fun nozzle. Then, take a candy cane piece and stick it at the edge of the brownie to create a tree stand and coat the brownies with sprinkles to represent ornaments. So yummy!

Eggnog Cupcakes:

I love eggnog! If you do too, you will love this recipe. At the store, pick up a vanilla cake box or create a homemade cake batter and add ½ cup of eggnog into it. Add a teaspoon of cinnamon and nutmeg into the mix. Bake as directed. In a mixing bowl, use one stick of butter, four cups of powdered sugar, four teaspoons of eggnog, and a pinch of cinnamon to create the buttercream icing. Use a piping bag to top the cupcakes with the icing and enjoy!

Gingerbread Pancakes:

Buy a pancake mix at the store and make the batter, Dye the batter brown. Plug in your griddle of heat up a pan and place a gingerbread cookie cutter in the middle. Place the batter inside the cookie cutter until the bottom side is cooked and flip over the pancake until cooked. Decorate your gingerbread man with candy eyes and buttons. Top with syrup and enjoy!

I hope you decide to try these recipes. Maybe make some cupcakes or cookies for you friend or for a neighbor. Christmas is the time for sharing and caring. Merry Christmas!
