Must Have Skin Care Products for the Winter Months

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

As temperatures drop, these are some products that will help your skin survive the cold.

CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser

This cleanser includes hyaluronic acid, a molecule already naturally produced in our skin. It helps retain moisture/water in the skin, which is crucial for those hard winters. It also comes as a body wash!

Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser

Similar to the CeraVe product, this cleanser is so gentle that it doesn’t strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it feeling plump all throughout the day. This also comes as a body wash!

Deep Moisture Dove Body Wash

This body wash leaves your skin feeling clean without the dryness that comes with stepping out of the shower. It does have some fragrance, but we’ll turn a blind eye for this staple.

KraveBeauty Kale Lalu Yaha

For those looking for a gentle exfoliator, Kale Lalu Yaha may just be the product for you. It’s formulated with 5.25% glycolic acid, which renews/smooths the outermost layer of your skin. It’s also a humectant and it retains skin moisture, just like hyaluronic acid (which is also in this product!).

Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant

This product is made with 2% salicylic acid and is gentle enough to use everyday. Salicylic acid goes deeper into pores to clear black/white heads and acne. The Skin Perfecting Exfoliant has a cult following due to how unstripped and renewed their skin feels after using.

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

Never fear cracked skin when applying CeraVe’s Moisturizing Cream. The cream is made with hyaluronic acid and contains ceramides, which help maintain a healthy and hydrated skin barrier.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

This product contains colloidal oatmeal as an active ingredient, which helps soothe dry, inflamed, cracked skin, perfect for the winter but also if you struggle with eczema flare ups.

Shea Butter

Because of shea butter’s high concentration of fatty acids, it’s perfect for moisturizing and smoothing dry skin.

Rosehip Oil

The hype around this product is well deserved. If you want that extra moisture in your skin care routine, rosehip oil is the product! Just like shea butter, because of the oil’s fat concentration, it will leave your skin feeling moisturized and plump, but it also fades hyperpigmentation and scars!

CoTZ Tinted Flawless Complexion SPF 50

I know what you may be thinking… sunscreen… during winter…? Yes, yes, and yes. It may be gloomy and dark outside, but the sun is still hiding behind those clouds. Cotz Sunscreen is thick and one of the few mineral sunscreens that works well with every skin tone. Although you have to take your time to rub it in, it is worth it. Also, skin cancer does not discriminate, so no matter what shade you are, sunscreen is essential, especially on the days you may think you don’t need it.

Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30

Black Girl Sunscreen is a staple in many routines. On top of working with every skin tone, it contains vitamin C and fatty oils that help moisturize and brighten the skin.
