Like everything during this whirlwind year, the 2020 Teen Vogue Summit had to go virtual to host the popular networking, celebrity-filled event. As stated on their website, “Career, culture and style collide at the 2020 Teen Vogue Summit.” Like previous years, it was filled with inspiring speakers and influencers, motivating career breakouts and an opportunity to meet other like-minded individuals. The only difference was we all watched safely from home (and if you’re like me, with your dog)!
The Teen Vogue Summit featured so many amazing keynote speakers this year. Tracee Ellis Ross provided insightful commentary on using her platform to address social and racial injustices, which was such an important conversation for all of us to hear at this time. Selena Gomez, who has been an ardent mental health advocate throughout her career, spoke about the important topic of mental health and taking care of yourself. Gomez also talked about her makeup brand Rare Beauty– because who isn’t obsessed with it, those lipsticks go on like butter.
The influx of entertainers didn’t just stop there. Nabela Noor stopped by for a conversation on self-care and self-confidence as so many have seen her display on her “Pockets of Peace” series on TikTok. Then there was a conversation with “All American” actor Daniel Ezra and showrunner Nkechi Okoro about their hit show that addresses current events and the Black teen experience in America. All of these speakers provided us with such an important and compelling conversation about our society and our world.
The Summit ended with a musical performance by power couple Lana Condor and Anthony De La Torre of their song “No Way.”
