Lately, I have been hearing a lot about affirmations, the power of affirmations and words, thinking positively, and manifesting what you want. I have this short post on my bathroom wall that I got from an Alex and Ani box that says:

“Words are Powerful

Words hold powerful energy. When you speak something with clarity, presence, and intention.  You command the universe to create your will. It will be heard.”

I love this post because it reminds me to be gentle and try my best to be positive, however, most mornings I barely glance at it since I am in a hurry to get to class or work. I’m sure there are many other college students like me who may not have the time, or take the time, to read these kinds of posts, so I have a couple of songs which embody the message in the Alex and Ani post in different ways. Here are some of my favorite songs I think college womxn need to hear while they get ready.

Big Time Rush’s “Big Time Rush”

Growing up I used to love watching Big Time Rush. Their theme song is the perfect morning wake up song. The lyrics will automatically put you in a good mood, and if you listen to the lyrics closely, it encourages you to chase after your dreams. Catchy with the best messages is something we all need in the morning to wake up and get through the day.

Fifth Harmony feat. Megan Trainor’s “ Brave Honest Beautiful”

This is another favorite of mine that I like to listen to when I’m feeling down or want to remind myself that I’m enough and I can do it. The lyrics and music take on a mellow but catchy tone and the lyrics, again if you listen to the lyrics closely, cheers you up. I like listening to this song as it reminds me multiple times that I can put my mind to whatever I want to achieve. The singers use examples of powerful and famous women for inspiration.

Doja Cat’s “Boss Bitch”

This is a fast paced, hyped up song. If you keep singing the chorus, it is a sort of affirmation that keeps constantly reminding you that you’re a bad bitch and a boss who can get it. Over time, singing the chorus and lyrics will get ingrained in your brain and you will automatically start feeling like that. What a great way to start the day feeling like you can conquer the world.

Yung Baby Tate, and Flo Milli’s “ I Am”

This song has become my next favorite song. I heard this on Tik Tok the other day and I was immediately hooked. It is filled with affirmations that every college womxn needs to hear in the morning. Every lyric is an affirmation in the form of a lyric. This song motivates you to go after what you want, and at the same time, reminds you that you are the best. I truly believe that listening to this song every morning and singing the chorus multiple times while getting ready will definitely put someone in a happy and ambitious mood which is exactly what you need in the morning to tackle classes and work. Furthermore, it is a catchy song that will be stuck in your head throughout the day. This song will give you an extra shot of energy in the morning.

Waking up with the right mood will set the tone for the rest of the day and I believe these are the songs that will set the perfect mood.
