Guelph Spotlight: With the Grain

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Guelph chapter.

Where: 295 Woolwich Street, Guelph

If you haven’t been to With the Grain I would highly recommend it. Though it may look small on the outside looking in, there is almost an overwhelming amount of choice when it comes to baked offerings. From daily bread features such as chocolate cranberry sourdough and oatmeal loaves to vegan cookies and brownies, there is always something delicious to try. The bakery is open Tuesday-Sunday and also offers coffee!

What to expect from the food:

The bakery has a number of offerings including a variety of breads and bagels which switch up every day. They also have some unique options like soft pretzels (both sweet and savoury) though there are still the classics like cupcakes, pies and delicious iced cookies (my personal favourite). Additionally, they do have some vegan options those there are more limitations in this area.

Recommendations: Both my roommate and I love the cheddar and herb scone as well as their sourdough loaves (the garlic cheddar sourdough is delicious and amazing for grilled cheese). In terms of sweet options, I would recommend the iced cookies as well as their apple crisp muffins which are amazing. For vegan options, I would recommend the fruit crumble bars which taste exactly like a classic baked crisp. A friend of mine who is vegan highly recommends the vegan monster cookie.
