“I hate gay Halloween, what do you mean you’re…” has been a trend on TikTok and Instagram for the past few years, and has created some of the funniest commentary across social media platforms. From celebrities’ elaborate jokes to niche Halloween costumes, gay Halloween has become a cultural phenomenon, striving for camaraderie and comedy. 

Here is a look back at the funniest costumes from 2026’s gay Halloween:

One of the funniest costumes, and perfect timing with AO3, the fan-fiction website, being down . This felt like the epitome of “gay Halloween.”

  1. The Peach from Call Me By Your Name

A little vulgar, but a good joke. The peach and Elio from Luca Guadagnino’s queer cult-classic Call Me By Your Name is a hilarious couples costume considering the events of the film and what Timothée Chalamet does to said peach.

Known as the plane movie, Crazy Rich Asians is a fan-favorite movie with a stellar cast, but instead of highlighting those characters, “gay Halloween” brought out the wedding aisle from the iconic scene at the end of the movie.
