Today, I have decided that I will be graduating a semester early.
I have known this as a possibility for a little bit, but the decision was still up in the air. It was only two semesters ago that I remotely figured out what I want to do with my future. But this has been a constant thought throughout my whole life.
In 6th grade, I was going to be an accountant.
In 8th grade, I wanted to be a personal assistant.
In 9th and 10th grade, I wanted to be a forensic psychologist.
11th grade through the fall semester of my sophomore year, I wanted to be a counselor for children.
My point is, things change, and people along with them.
If you told my junior-year self that I would be a student at St. Bonaventure, I would have said you were crazy. That it was too close and I would be moving far away.
If you had told me I had been a part of a writing club every semester in college, I would have said you were crazy.
If you had told me that I am in multiple business clubs and classes, you would be someone who has an extremely vivid imagination.
My plan in life has changed constantly throughout my years, and I have changed along with them.
Now, to the reason I am graduating early: I somehow managed to have enough credits to graduate a year early, but I decided to stay at least one extra semester. But this semester has taught me one thing: I am not ready for these college years to be over; they have gone too quickly.
Just yesterday, it felt like I was walking into my first Priv class. Only a few weeks ago, I met Palmer for the first time. And simply hours ago, I was meeting some of my roommates, who would have thought two years later we would be living together.
As this semester comes to a close, I will embark on a new journey. I will start classes for my MBA. My hope is to graduate first, then start my MBA, and hopefully have a job here at Bonaventure. Still work in a similar office that I love and further my degree.
I have a plan, and I have dreams, and thankfully, I was raised by a woman who has shown me to work hard and never stop trying. That is why I am also proud to say that I will become the first person with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in my family.
I have many plans for my future, and I want it to go in a similar path to what I have planned out. But my plans will change somewhat, and I will change along with them.
