Homecoming is just around the corner, and we need to be sure that we can have fun without worrying about classes. Being easily one of the most anticipated events during the fall semester, here is a trusted guide to follow so you’re able to enjoy homecoming and social gatherings with friends and family.Â
- Plan AheadÂ
If you’re anything like me, you thrive off procrastination. And well— that’s not going to help you distress and will lead you to overthink about homework or tasks while you’re out. Planning your outfit will also help you avoid unnecessary stress and a last-minute decision that could lead to you wearing an outfit that you’re not confident in. Fun starts before the event, and this is only the first step.Â
- Set BoundariesÂ
It’s important that we stay safe and within our comfort zones. The worst thing you can do is allow yourself or others to do something they aren’t entirely comfortable with. Being sure of what you are willing to be involved in will dictate how you remember your homecoming, and we want it to be something you think of fondly in the future. Â
- Self-care routineÂ
This is not the time to lack in the self-care department. When you look good, you feel good and it is important that you do the routine that helps calm you down. It’s not all about looks, but doing things that help you unwind from a stressful school or workday, allowing you to recharge so that you’re at peak energy for social gatherings. Not feeling our best can totally affect the outcome of how much we enjoy homecoming, so don’t skip the routine!Â
- Needed RestÂ
Rest coincides with self-care, but I wanted to focus on how important it is that we get enough sleep. As students, we get used to staying up late and waking up early, but five or four hours of sleep will not help us. A lack of sleep affects our moods, which wouldn’t be good for socializing and can cause unneeded stress. I know we’re young, but your beauty sleep is important, so don’t skip out.Â
- School SpiritÂ
And you can’t prepare for homecoming without school spirit. Get excited for the endless possibilities and parties that you will attend with friends and family. This helps you navigate through everything else by giving you motivation so that you can have the time of your life. Get invested in the magic that is homecoming and allow yourself to immerse yourself in student pride.Â
Homecoming is for students and families to connect, and we don’t want your academics to get in the way of you potentially having the best time of your life. Immerse yourself, but also stay responsible so that this homecoming can become one to remember.Â
