Halloween is a great time to try out new styles, but you don’t have to buy a cheap costume you’ll only wear once. Here are six costume ideas, from famous movie characters to classic fashion looks, that are basically just outfits you can wear again.

1. Cher Horowitz from Clueless

Cher Horowitz from Clueless is a great inspiration if you like matching outfits. Her famous yellow plaid outfit is very popular and very simple to put together. Wear a yellow plaid skirt with a matching blazer, a white shirt, knee-high socks, and Mary Jane shoes.

You could also make your own version with a different plaid set or a skirt and cardigan that match. Add a small purse to get that classic 90s vibe. The best part is that you can wear each clothing separately for everyday looks.

2. A Modern Fairy

You don’t have to spend a lot if you want to be a fairy this Halloween. To make your fairy outfit look elegant, wear a mini-flowy dress with ballet flats and minimal accessories. Pastel colors, lace, satin, and sheer fabrics will make your outfit more elegant and not look too much like a costume. You can add fairy wings, or if you want to go for a more subtle fairy style, you can wear sparkly hair decorations and glamorous makeup. This theme is perfect if you prefer feminine styles and want to look dreamy.

3. Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction

For a costume that’s easy but still makes a statement, just grab a white button-down shirt that’s a bit baggy, some black capris, and black flats or loafers. If you want to complete the look, a short black bob wig will do the trick for her haircut.

The reason this costume works so well is that the main clothes are things you might already have or can easily find, and you can wear pants, a shirt, and shoes on your own even after Halloween. To make it even more like her, put on some red lipstick and keep the rest of your makeup minimal.

4. A Fashionable Vampire

A vampire costume is always a great choice, and you can make it more modern by focusing more on the clothes rather than a pre-made costume. Wear a black satin dress, or a black top paired with a long skirt, or an entirely black two-piece set with lace.

Add silver jewelry, pointed heels, and red lipstick to enhance the outfit. A long black coat can also give it an elegant finish. This is a simple option if you prefer darker colors and different clothing pieces in your daily wardrobe.

5. A ’70s Disco Girl

If you are someone who likes sparkles in your style, then this outfit from the seventies will be best for you. The main pieces of your disco outfit should be belling bottom jeans, fitted top, and platforms. But you can choose a metallic T-shirt or a glitter skirt or pants, if you want to stand out.

To complete this look, you can add gold hoop earrings, necklaces and go for a bold 70s hairstyle. You do not have to purchase a whole set of clothes, because you will be able to wear this outfit daily by wearing your bell bottom jeans or skirt with a sparkling top.

6. An Angel in All White

An angel costume is easy to put together and looks great at the same time. All you need is a white mini dress, a white coordinated suit or blouse and skirt, and some angel wings. If you want to be more creative, wear a white satin dress, silver jewelry, and neutral makeup. You can add a halo to finish the look. White clothes are typically always universal; you can reuse all these clothing pieces on other occasions like dinner parties.

Make Your Halloween Outfit Work Beyond Halloween

A costume does not necessarily have to be purchased. Most of the time, it’s possible to come up with an amazing costume using the clothing you already have in combination with other pieces. This season is perfect for experimenting with different styles you would normally never choose to wear. Whether it is dressed up as a famous movie star or wearing a different version of a usual costume, there is always a way to fashion up a stylish costume on a budget.
