Music always makes or breaks my mood. It’s a big motivator for me to workout or to get out of a funk. Lately I’ve been on the search for songs that will uplift me and get me moving, and I figured I would share my findings! These are the golden 5 I’ve been vibing to lately:

“raingurl” by Yaeji

One word that describes how this song makes me feel is: boujee. The song falls into the “house” music category because of its deep bass and beat that makes you want to fist pump. It’s amazing for running and for getting energized! The lyrics are simple but inspiring: “Make it rain girl, make it rain.” This song never fails to make me want to get up and attack the day.

“Half Mast” by Empire of the Sun

Empire of the Sun never fails to make me want to dance. I found this song on TikTok and was shook to find out that The Spins by Mac Miller samples Half Mast. This song is electric, and the type of song that I feel like I can swim in. This tune surrounds me and makes me feel like I’m in a movie!

“Crew” by GoldLink ft Brent Faiyaz and Shy Glizzy

This song is a banger! The first line is catchy and always stuck in my head: “She see money all around me, I look like I’m the man.” The vibe is very 90s like. If you enjoy old-school rap like OutKast or A Tribe Called Quest, you will definitely get down to this. The flow is very impressive.

“Soaked” by BENEE

BENEE should be recognized for tracks other than her viral song, Supalonely. This is a song I always recommend listening to if you want to dive into the New Zealand music world. This has lyrics meant for screaming! Soaked conveys a crush in the best way, so it’s a good song to stream when you can’t stop thinking about someone special.

“Wait a Minute!” by Willow

Willow is soooo talented. Her vocals hit different, and always make me want to get up and move. Wait a Minute! has lyrics that make you transcend. “I think I left my consciousness on your front door step” is a verse in this song, which really explains the trip that is this track. I always belt this song with my friends. The energy Willow radiates is contagious.
