Halloween is on a Saturday this year. Each of you know the monumentality of this moment- an entire weekend dedicated to costumes, and not a single worry about class in the morning! Not to mention how many nights of costumes to plan. So don’t worry, I’m here to help. Let’s talk about easy, cute, iconic Halloween costumes for Halloweekend!

  1. Superheros

Fellow nerdy girls, we lucked out this year, with lots of superhero inspiration in the cinemas. A classic, easy costume is always spiderwoman, since many stores sell spider suits! One piece makes it very convenient. This is a great one if your time to choose and order a costume is running out. There are so many options, since there’s a multitude of spidermen and women throughout different films.

If you’ve already done this one, there are plenty of others to choose from. Catwoman is always a cute staple, as well as Black Widow, both easily done with a black bodysuit and minimal accessories. All of the X-men can also be easily found at Halloween stores, or made at home! For you girls talented with makeup, you can’t go wrong as Mystique.

  1. Animals

Dressing as animals for Halloween is nothing new, but if you’re looking for some unique ideas beyond some ears and drawn-on whiskers, I’ve got you. First up, dressing as a Peacock allows for a shiny, colorful costume. Wearing green and blue, sparkles, feathers… you see the vision!

If you aren’t tied to real life animals, another costume fit for a bold personality is a unicorn. Pink and blue, glitter and gems, this costume allows for lots of creative freedom, colors and accessories. Stepping slightly away from animals but leaning into mystical creatures, a mermaid is always an eye-catching option.

  1. Partner/group costumes

Most of you readers are probably with your girls looking up costumes to go out right now, so don’t worry, I wouldn’t leave out some amazing partner/group costumes perfect for this year. This year was huge for film releases, giving us plenty to work with. For my sports romance girls, you cannot go wrong with Off Campus. Hannah and Allie’s Halloween costumes are iconic- and it’s perfect for Halloween! If you’ve got a large group, you’re in luck with the release of Avengers Doomsday coming up- if you can think of a MCU hero, chances are they are featured in the movie!

I know, I know, wrangling a whole group costume is the top ten most difficult things. If you’re looking for something even simpler, everyone I know has some sort of animal print in their closet. You can be animals, party animals, beanie babies, the list goes on. Disney princesses are always a hit. For smaller groups, you can’t go wrong with Scooby Doo.

If you’re going with any couples groups this Halloween, which is one of the hardest things to coordinate, there are a few cute yet simple ideas. Firefighters and Dalmatians are super cute, and both parties will be happy with their costume. If it’s just you and your partner, Judy and Nick from Zootopia are becoming popular, but are still unique!

As a Halloween lover, the easiest way for me to find a costume is to dress as something I love. My favorite characters, favorite animals, etc. Don’t be afraid to be yourself! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with this year.

Hi! My name is Amanda and I am an English major at Sacred Heart University, with writing and dance minors. I'm from Massachusetts, where I grew up dancing, reading and writing my whole life. My goals are to hold careers in these areas when I grow up, as I never want to stop dancing and reading/writing are things I immensely enjoy. HerCampus is an amazing organization to be a part of on my campus, I love how it blends writing, media, and makes a safe space for women.
