The best TikTok trends are the ones where it’s clear users are having lighthearted fun, and almost anybody can get involved. It’s one thing to doomscroll and come across any old trend, but to come across an actually good trend? You can just feel it. And that’s where the current “What iPad?” trend comes in.

If you haven’t seen this trend, then fear no more! The “What iPad?” trend highlights the creativity of TikTok users by attempting to conceal an iPad in their video. If it sounds kind of silly, that’s because it is!

The trend started with a video posted way back on Feb. 17 by a user named Zoë. In the video, she’s discussing a fictional argument in which the other party asks to go through her iPad. Zoë looks around the room as if to look for an iPad, only for the viewer to see it’s (not so) hidden on her. During this pretend search, she says the trend’s title line “What iPad?” in an extremely convincing way. And now fast-forward to October, and other TikTok users are recreating the video, finding silly and clever ways to hide their own iPads in their videos. (Seriously, some creators are getting so sneaky with hiding their iPads, there have even been a few videos where I have to watch multiple times to find the iPad!)

In order to partake in this trend yourself, you need just one thing: an iPad (or a similar tablet-like device). That is literally it! The purpose of your video should be to hide the tablet somewhere within the video. If you remember a few years back, it feels like a variation of the “Adult Swim” trend, one of TikTok’s most iconic hall-of-famers.

Don’t be afraid to be creative and think outside the box — it’s a necessity! Hide the tablet in and between items, someplace on you, or somewhere in the background. You can even try to convince your friends, family, or pets to join in on the fun.

The coolest part of this trend is that you can be obvious or subtle — either way, the joke will land!
