My top 5 items you should add to your christmas wishlist

Even though it is barely fall, Christmas is already creeping closer. Before you know it, pumpkin spice lattes will become peppermint mochas.

My mom always asks for my Christmas list on the first day of October. Although it is early, it is always good to start getting prepared for the season with a shopping spree. Almost every year I am caught off guard, even though I should anticipate it by now. I am always scrambling to make my list. This process mainly consists of scrolling on Instagram for inspiration and ultimately coming up short. For everyone who has similar experiences and cannot find good inspiration, here is my list of upcoming “It Girl” items that are perfect to add to your wishlist. Not every “It Girl,” especially a college student, has a huge budget, so I have included some dupes as well. Dupes are very similar products that are a lower-price than the original. Dupes are amazing for college “It Girls” on a budget. Whether someone gifts these to you, or you gift one to someone else, this list is short but very sweet.

1. Fabric Headbands

Whenever I walk around campus, I see so many people with these fabric headbands with adorable patterns. My favorites include polka dot or stripe designs. These styles of headbands come at all different price points, but here are the ones that stuck out to me. Aerie has a pack of two for $20 that are light blue and brown. In addition to the headbands themselves trending right now, these colors are also extremely popular. Target also has a two pack for only $8, which are navy and white. While most of the cuter patterns come from Aerie or Urban Outfitters, you can find adorable bulk packs on Amazon. There is even a six pack for $17. No matter where you get your headbands from, they are such a fun addition to every outfit!

2. Beaded Bags

An additional item to add color and whimsy to your outfits is a beaded bag. These bags first became extremely popular last year, but this trend is here to stay. The popularity of these bags originated from Anthropologie’s collection. They come in multiple different color palettes and patterns, with motifs of fruits or even designs inspired by drinks. These bags are perfect for pairing with basic outfits to spice them up. Additionally, these bags are great because they are large enough to fit everything you need, such as your phone, wallet and lipstick. My favorite beaded bag is a pink design with bows from Francesca’s. Francesca’s was a popular clothing and accessory store that is now unfortunately out of business. I personally loved all of their products, especially my pink bag.

The Fiona Beaded Bags usually cost around $98 from Anthropologie, but Amazon also has similar bags in a variety of themes. They cost around $54, with prices varying based on the pattern. My personal favorite beaded bag from Amazon features a dachshund with stripes.

3. Athletic Rompers

All over campus, people are wearing the extremely popular Alo Seamless Ribbed Favorite Onesie. This romper costs $128 and comes in black or navy. H&M has a product that is extremely similar for $40. Their Sports Unitard with Softmove comes in mocha and sage green. Instead of the cross back like Alo’s product, it has a scoop back. These products are perfect because they are so easy to throw on and wear to classes. Their simplicity is what makes them so chic.

4. Tote Bags

Another product that is used across college campuses is the popular and classy Longchamps bag. The Le Pliage Original Medium Tote Bag costs $165. This product comes in 10 different colors, with the most popular being navy. This bag is so adorable and perfect to use when walking in between classes. White Fox also has a very similar product. White Fox’s George Shoulder Bag comes in baby pink and costs $65. Once again, these bags are great for holding all of your textbooks and supplies for class and they match every outfit.

5. Ballerina Wrap Tops

Another item that is going to fly off the shelves this Christmas is ballerina wrap tops. These are perfect to go with a pair of biker shorts or tennis skirts. They are versatile and can match literally anything. Once again, this product has a variety of price points from different stores. First is the Daily Practice Surplice Wrap-Front Top from Anthropologie for $68. This product comes in soft and neutral colors, which are excellent for more coquette aesthetics. H&M sells a very similar product for a lower price. Their Sports Wrap Top costs $30 and comes in more earth tones and colors. This dupe is a great option for people who want more color options.

Everyone wants to have the style of an “it girl,” but the price points rarely match the budget. Just because you do not have the budget, does not mean you should entirely miss out on these products or the style. All of these items are great to add to a Christmas list because they are so versatile, and the dupes are less expensive than the originals. I hope these products help you create your own “It Girl” wishlist!
