Whenever my friends and I hang out, we are always playing music. Whether it’s just for background noise or attentive listening, it’s always on. With classes going on, we don’t get the same opportunities to listen to music together like we used to. The perfect solution to this is a collaborative playlist.
Collaborative playlists are a feature on both Spotify and Apple Music (I’m more of a Spotify person myself). It allows you and your friends to create playlists together, even if you’re miles apart. On Spotify, all you have to do is have one person make the playlist and press the “Make Collaborative” button. Then the person who made the playlist can share the link with whoever they want!
My friends and I decided to make a “song of the week” playlist. Every Tuesday, we share one song we are obsessed with for that week. We’ve only been doing it for a couple of weeks now, but I am so excited to see how long the playlist gets. It’s the perfect way to see our different music tastes overlap and intertwine. Hopefully, we’ll keep it going for quite a while so we can see how our music tastes change with the seasons. So far, we’ve had a couple of Taylor Swift songs (obviously!) and a few throwbacks. Some of the songs I added to the playlist are “Jean” by Cassyette, “Liquor Store On Mars” by Kelsy Karter, and “Man’s World” by MARINA.
One issue I would look out for when making a collab playlist is making sure everyone knows how to do it. Not everyone is skilled in the ways of Spotify or Apple Music and may need a little extra guidance.
Collab playlists are so much fun to make with your friends and I couldn’t recommend them more!
