Happy fall, everyone! I hope that everyone is enjoying this fall season! With that being said, October is upon us and we may be trying to engage our inner Halloween spirit. There are many different items that may allow us to embrace Halloween and the fall season. Some of these can include the following: the food, pumpkin patches, sweaters, scary movies, music, and more. Specifically today, I have some recommendations for you to use your senses to better engage the parts of you that want to enjoy this fall season.

Song Number #1: “This is Halloween” from The Nightmare Before Christmas

This song instantly brings me back to my childhood years when I first watched this movie. Although, it is controversial on whether this movie is more Halloween-oriented or delves into Christmas, I think it has a deeper emphasis regarding Halloween. With this song becoming so popular due to the Disney movie, it allowed for many stores and other locations to play this song. I often have heard this song when I attend a pumpkin patch, listen to the radio, or am watching Halloween movies on television. It definitely makes me feel as if I am joining the party of characters in the movie to tell their story. I recommend this song if you haven’t heard it before!

Song #2: “Thriller” by Michael Jackson

Now, everyone loves a good Michael Jackson song when it appears on your social media feed, blasts on the radio, or is broadcasted while you are shopping at a grocery store during the fall season. Maybe not everyone loves this music, but many people can at least recognize it. Iconically, this music video has been extremely popular around October due to the eerie and mysterious vibes that it portrays. Listening to this song even once allows for me to feel like I am walking through a haunted attraction or am venturing through a chilly corn maze. If you want to feel like it is Halloween night, this is one of my favorite songs to blast!

Song #3: “Monster Mash” by Bobby “Borris” Pickett

Finally, another song that especially resonates with Halloween is the “Monster Mash.” Oftentimes, I have heard this at haunted attractions growing up during their daylight hours. This song emphasizes having fun and being a monster at the same time, but not like the ones that are portrayed in the movies. Having “Monster Mash” playing allows for me to feel as if I could dance along to the music as well. I believe that this specific tune is great if you want to think about how monsters correlate to Halloween, but also in a silly manner. I strongly encourage you to listen to this song to feel the fun and spooky vibes that Halloween has to offer.

Although, we may not think of Halloween music as often as Christmas music due to ranging popularities, it doesn’t mean that it can’t enhance the season that it correlates with. Whether you are in the car or hanging out with your friends one night, try to listen to some of these songs if you are trying to engage in the cooky vibes that Halloween has to offer us. Please stay tuned for more Halloween and fall content that will be appearing this month! Thank you for reading!
