Making A Name For Herself: Disney Star Freya Skye

If you don’t know who Freya Skye is now, you certainly will soon. You’ve probably seen her online, posted up with her dog, Ruby, hanging out with her dad, or singing a cover song on her YouTube channel. She’s also currently the face of Hollister’s Fall 2026 denim campaign, with her own line of merch, which sold out so quickly that Hollister restocked the merch and developed a second line within a month.

The seventeen-year-old British actress and singer is making a name for herself worldwide, and her popularity continues to grow across multiple demographics.

At thirteen, she entered the Junior Eurovision song contest, and although she didn’t win, she walked away with a record deal with Hollywood Records and the public’s approval.

Since then, she has made a small name for herself as an actress, appearing in a few shows, most notably Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, before being cast in one of the leading roles of the next installment of Disney’s ZOMBIES franchise alongside Malachi Barton and their chemistry is pretty undeniable.

Aside from her acting pursuits, Skye began releasing singles consistently in 2025: “Can’t Fake It,” “Who I Thought I Knew,” and “Gold’s Gone.” Her music was well received, and when ZOMBIES 4 came out, she shot to Disney-girl stardom.

Skye’s performance as Nova in the film was incredible. She got the opportunity to showcase her skills as a true triple threat and was granted a solo in the film, “My Own Way,” a song she performed on her run with the Descendants x ZOMBIES World Tour as well as on her current tour this past year.

But why is Skye making such a wave now? She went into 2026 with a goal in mind: to bolster her career in all disciplines, and that’s exactly what she did. With the release of “silent treatment” at the end of 2025 and her debut EP stardust released in early February, Skye set a focus on developing herself as a musician, playing the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball and collaborating with some big-name singers like Alex Warren (he brought her out to perform “silent treatment” at one of his shows) and announcing her headline tour in late December to span cities in the States, with eventual add-ons of the UK, Australia, Europe, and, in 2027, parts of Latin America and Asia.

Stardust released in early February before Skye embarked on her “Stars Align” tour. The five-song EP was well received by Skye’s fans (known as “Skyelights”), and while on tour, she’s continued to tease unreleased music with her most recent hit, “bad taste”, released in mid-September.

Attending a Freya Skye concert? Expect to be surrounded by mothers and daughters in a sea of blue. And you’ll see star-shaped glasses. Don’t question it: it’s part of the appeal. I was lucky enough to attend the second-to-last show of her US leg in Orlando, Florida. If I were still in Freya’s biggest demographic (teenage girls), then this would be a show I went to with my mom. It’s truly inspiring to see so many families out enjoying a show with their kids — it’s not something you see much anymore.

For the third leg of the tour, Freya brought along Season 19 semifinalist of America’s Got Talent, Alex Sampson. Gotta say, never a dull moment when that man performs: his interactions with the crowd were so sweet and unique; he even stopped his set at one point to film a TikTok (we love a productive king), and he played multiple songs off of his latest project, Growing Pains, including a few unreleased tracks.

At her tour stop in Orlando, she brought her energy and power to the venue of House of Blues, and honestly? She could’ve definitely nabbed a bigger venue: fans were clamoring to get a good view for hours before the show, some spending the majority of their day waiting in line.

The only unreleased song on her setlist, “effortless,” is confirmed to be part of her upcoming project. During the show, she told the crowd a bit about the writing process for the song: “It’s become one of my favorite songs to perform on this tour, and initially I was so nervous to perform it because I just didn’t know what people were gonna think,” Skye admitted to the crowd. “This song is one that we wrote towards the end of the album-writing process, which was only three weeks ago, so it’s pretty fresh. A lot of my songs and my comfort zone in writing is in the realm of anger, or confusion, or kind of angrier, more hate songs. I didn’t really have any nice songs, and while this song definitely isn’t a love song, we’re not there yet, but it’s the closest we’re gonna get to one on this album.”

During her Orlando show, she admitted that her tour plans for her upcoming album are already set in stone, and she hopes to return to Orlando! She also revealed that her debut album was recently completed, and the release is coming soon.

Does Skye have a plan for the next year ahead? Absolutely. Besides touring and releasing her album, ZOMBIES 5 is supposed to release next summer, and Disney fans are eager to see more of Nova and Victor’s forbidden love story. Also, there may be mermaids involved? The ZOMBIES universe continues to expand, and with it, so does Skye’s career in multiple directions.

Skye may just be starting to make a splash now, but trust me, she’s someone you’ll want to keep your eye on.
