My Take on the West and Amanda Summer House Drama

Last Spring, the news that West and Amanda from Summer House were engaging in a romantic relationship shook the Bravosphere. If you have never seen or heard of Summer House, it is a popular Bravo reality television show that depicts a group of friends and their house in the Hamptons each summer. The main couple in the group and two Summer House staples have been Kyle and Amanda, even though their relationship is built around a lot of conflict and cheating scandals. Despite this, the two were married for many years and just decided to separate this past January 2026. Soon after, rumors began circulating that Amanda was spending time with West, another cast member on the show and the ex-boyfriend of Amanda’s best friend, Ciara. Messy, right? 

The messiest part about all of this is that Ciara confronted Amanda several times as rumors were circulating to see if they were true. Amanda kept gaslighting her into thinking the rumors were ridiculous and had absolutely no merit. Then, in March 2026, West and Amanda released a very vague statement on their Instagram stories confirming that they were in some sort of romantic relationship.  

Funny enough, the Summer House season 10 reunion was filmed in April when this all was still fresh and new. The reunion was a face-off against Amanda and West, focused on finding out how and when the relationship began, since Amanda and Kyle split only a few weeks before the rumors started.  

Now for my take on all of this. I think what Amanda did to Ciara is so wrong. We see in past seasons how West played Ciara and manipulated her emotions in a lot of cases. And to make matters even worse, Ciara was the most loyal and caring friend throughout Amanda and Kyle’s immense relationship issues and hardships. Then, for Amanda to go behind her back and get with her ex, whom she knows hurt her deeply, is so wrong.  

This situation showed the type of person Amanda really is. She is the type of girl who will put a man and a man’s attention before her friends. The thing that gets me the most is how, in the last episode of Summer House season 10, Ciara is seen comforting Amanda while she cries and calling her beautiful and strong after she had a bad summer with Kyle. Then, for Amanda to do this to Ciara mere months later is so sad.  

Kyle was not the perfect husband to Amanda by any means. He has a very party animal personality and is a lot more outgoing than she is. He has been caught in many cheating rumors over the years that Amanda chose to let slide. Despite this, we saw in the past season specifically that Amanda was clearly over him and was not trying to mend the relationship. Kyle became angry and upset, and it was just not a good combination. I am honestly surprised the two got married in the first place. But one thing about Kyle is that he goes to bat for his friends. He has been seen defending Ciara many times over the years and has been there for her throughout the whole West scandal. He may have his flaws, but he has some good values.  

Amanda and West received insane backlash online (rightfully so). They still are, but it has definitely died down. The two are in a full-fledged relationship now and are posting pictures of each other on social media. Amanda essentially chose a guy she started dating a few months ago over her best friend of 5+ years. If that doesn’t show you someone’s priorities, I don’t know what does.
