Halloween might be just around the corner, but I still haven’t forgotten about Heated Rivalry. In case you somehow missed it, the TV series — which was released from November, 2025 to January, 2026 and based on Rachel Reid’s Game Changers book series — follows a steamy hockey romance between rival players, Canada’s Shane Hollander and Russia’s Ilya Rozanov. And if you, like me, are still reeling from the show, consider channeling your love into some Heated Rivalry Halloween costumes that’ll be sure to make some heads turn.
But first, let’s be honest. Yes, Shane and Ilya’s jerseys are iconic. And they would definitely make a great, recognizable costume. But I promise you that literally every fan who wants to dress up as them will be wearing those jerseys. So if you want to stand out this Halloween, it’s time to get a little creative. But don’t worry, this list should help you out. Here are five unique Heated Rivalry costume ideas that are a surefire way to catch some eyes and channel your inner hockey player.
- Shane & Ilya’s Florida looks
-
Crave If you still want to dress up as Shane and Ilya but want to be a little more low-key about it, then their breezy Florida bar looks are definitely the way to go. Plus, the looks themselves are super simple. If you’re going for Shane, all you need is a white blazer, black tee, and maybe a bit of hair gel. All you’d need to be Ilya is a red Hawaiian shirt. Throw in some ginger ale and a bottle of beer as props and you’re all set to go.
- Kip & Scott’s on-ice moment
-
Crave If you’re committed to being the cutest couple at literally any party, then you should highly consider dressing up as smoothie shop barista Kip and New York Admirals player Scott from their iconic on-ice reunion from Episode 5. In the scene, Scott invites Kip onto the ice and kisses him, ultimately coming out as a couple and inspiring the hockey world to be more inclusive. In my opinion, the scene is one of the best from the entire show — and taking costume inspo from it would make you instantly recognizable. For the Scott look, you’d just need to get a New York Admirals jersey (and you could even use a hockey stick as a prop), and for Kip, you really just need a denim jacket (or, you could wear a barista apron and still be recognizable, IMO).
- Svetlana’s gala dress
-
Crave For those looking to channel their feminine energy this Halloween, then Svetlana’s fabulous gala look from the second episode is the way to go. The black suede chain dress was originally designed by Toronto-based designer Izzy Camilleri, but if you’re looking for something more affordable, then all you have to do is wear a little black dress and throw on a bunch of gold necklaces instead of the chains. It might not be 100% accurate, but it’ll be similar enough that people will still be able to recognize you as Ilya’s trusted confidante.
- Shane’s Canada fleece
-
Crave Shane’s Canada fleece became all the rage earlier this year, and for good reason: Hudson Williams looks phenomenal in it. If you’re flying solo this Halloween, then the Canada fleece is the easiest way to do a recognizable (and super cozy) Heated Rivalry costume. And who knows? You might just find your Ilya.
- Shane & Ilya’s suits
-
Crave For those who’d call themselves a little bit extra, then Shane and Ilya’s tuxedos from the premiere are the perfect Halloween look. After Shane wins Rookie of the Year, the pair shares an intimate moment on the hotel rooftop. Since these looks are a little more generic, it’s best if you have the hair to sell it — so grab some wigs, or have one person straighten their hair and the other curl theirs. While this costume definitely requires more coordination (given that you’ll literally need formal tuxedos), you’ll undoubtedly be one of the best looking pairs of the night. And what’s a better excuse to go all out than Halloween?
