A wave of bright pink and yellow washed over the entire crowd. From an outside perspective, one might’ve been confused by the mix of colors. But as a Role Model fan, I was exactly where I wanted to be.Â
Live concerts have always been a popular part of youth culture, but over recent years there has been a transition that has slowly taken over the concert experience: fashion. Attending a concert is more than just going for the artist and the musical performance; it’s about dressing the part, matching the curated aesthetic for the fanbase, and making a fashion statement. The style and attire at Chuck On Tour, and generally at any concert recently, have become creative, intentional, and bold.Â
For his current ongoing tour following the release of his album Chuck Timely & The Hourglass, indie-pop artist Tucker Pillsbury (better known by his stage name Role Model) introduced fans to a new, retro alter ego by the name of Chuck Timely. The tour’s visual aesthetic directly mirrors the album’s artwork, utilizing the distinct color palette of pink and yellow everywhere, intentionally pairing with denim.Â
While concertgoers have been dressing the part in this vibrant color scheme matched with classic denim, what has stood out the most on this 2026 tour is the explosion of DIY (Do It Yourself) fashion. Instead of relying on the overly priced commercial merch that stands for a physical commemoration of the concert, Role Model fans have taken it into their own hands, crafting their own apparel.Â
“What the Chuck!” has become an unofficial slogan for the concert and fanbase, with many fans wearing a fitted t-shirt, decked out with the phrase. Some shirts are pink with the phrase in bold yellow font, while others have been designed by cutting out different pieces of pattern fabric, ranging from plaid to gingham to polka dot to spell it out.Â
I noticed when I attended his show, one fan crafted outfit that was in correlation to one of the more popular songs off the album, “Love I You.” Stitched into the fan’s grey jacket was the lyric, “Oh I could be your rag doll, babe,” and which they attached an actual miniature doll to their jacket as a literal interpretation of the lyric. Â
Many of the tour outfits have also been paired with dark denim, inspired by Role Model himself. His outfits and fashion are still simple and basic, but one thing that he stands by is his denim. He has been consistent on his 2026 tour, constantly wearing authentic denim, be it jeans and a jacket, at every show.Â
It’s more than just shirts and jackets, extending into interactive accessories. While waiting in line before the show started, one fan walked around distributing handmade pin-back buttons that she had designed herself. One pin had the viral phrase “What the Chuck!” with a striped pink background, while another featured a photo of popular TikTok influencer Jake Shane (Jake Shane and Role Model famously have a great relationship that fans admire). This gesture wasn’t intended for profit; rather, she was looking to connect with other fans and make the concert even more memorable for others.Â
This fan fashion culture has been greatly influenced and boosted by social media. Fans look to spaces like TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest to share and search for outfit inspiration. Other posts help with the DIY aspect of concert outfits, such as step-by-step tutorials. Ultimately, Role Model fans have created an elevated concert experience through fashion that has boosted the connection between fans through shared expression.Â
