Thanks to the launch of a new club on campus, Skidmore students will now be able to express their love for ballet in a community of other dancers. Ballet Club is new this semester, headed by sophomore Julia Price. While there are ballet classes at Skidmore, there was a lack of extracurricular opportunities and workshops that included ballet—until now!
Take a peek at their mission statement: “Ballet Club will be a space where dancers of all levels can come to explore the world of ballet in a non-academic setting. We will offer workshops for different styles and skill levels, build community, and create a space where people can learn more about ballet. At Skidmore, ballet is currently underrepresented, and Ballet Club will be a place where it is prioritized.”
Whether you’re a ballet pro or just hoping to learn more about it, this sounds like a great opportunity. I bet it’ll be the perfect spot to make new friends in the dance department, too! If you’re interested, swing by their info session next week: Friday, October 16th at 5:00 PM in Dance Studio 2.
